This is Butter in her butter mobile. Any ideas on how to fix her leg and also how to put feed and water on her mobile for her. when she is don she dosnt eat or drink just flopps all over . If I have her sitting up in her chair or in my hand I can coax her to eat and drink a little . She is about 30 hours old right now.
Her leg that twists inward and down

FIrst I had the baby with the exposed brain and now this little one. I wont cull her unless she starts suffering.

Hi all! Been a lurker on this thread for a bit, but wanted to say I'm an addict, too.
Nice little walker for your baby!! I also, had a little Buff with a similar, yet opposite foot problem--it seemed to rotate at the middle joint going outward, but you could turn it and bend it in the correct direction. The toes are pointing outward, it would try to keep them upward and it didn't want to put any weight on it. It wasn't splayed, but I put it in a hobble anyways. It is doing a lot better now. I think it was caused by it bleeding quite a bit at hatch. But, I was wondering if you got your egg from someone, or is it from your own? If they are from same place, it could be genetic, since they are so similar....
Also, to any of you who incubate Silkies, if your humidity is a bit high during incubation, would you still do 70% at lockdown? My humidity stayed around 46-48%, that's with a whole bag of rice in the bator--oh and weight loss is on track and air cells are good.....I just can't get it lower and have hatch other breeds just fine with this, but Silkies are just not doing well for me, even with steady temps . I've had lots of late quitters.
Sorry for such a long post and thanks in advance.

Just locked down my 1 JG that I had left out of 11 eggs. I knew the other looked iffy the other day. Opened the bator lid & had a stinker. How in the world do I deal with 1 chick assuming it hatches? I've never been in that situation before. They usually have each other. My other chicks are too old to accept it without hurting it, probably.

Welcome aboard Buckgawk. I love to hatch but don't have the room or the customers to hatch large quantities or lots of varieties. I would love to be able to do that one day. But when I am able to hatch, I have all 3 of my bators full. Poor hubby just shakes his head. He doesn't understand.

Best of luck hatching your silkies. The only silkie chick that I hatched ended up with a slipped tendon. We tried for the longest time to fix it. I think it's to late now though. He's 2 weeks old and still can't go with the others. I have hardest time hatching those and Jersey Giants. I'm determined to hatch some Jersey's though. They are so beautiful to me. If you or anyone has secrets for those, please share.

Welcome to all the New People!

I ended up with I think 33 new chicks. I like these numbers WAY better than 120

Tomorrow is Lockdown for some Cuckoo Marans that were part of a swap.... I had to toss most... I don't think many are going to hatch.

But the good news is I think I may have enough young pullets growing up to work with. I think I have about 4-5 so far. Plus this hatch's cuckoos and the swap eggs cuckoo. I think I have hatched about 100 just to get a few to work with.

Looked at my little cuckoo roos and one has only the slightest of gold.... he has to go.

Going to set more SLW, Lavs and Splits and ExL x WL eggs. That is going to look like a tiny hatch in that BIG old bator. I think I will stop hatching the wheatens. I have had such good hatches I have lots of chicks to pick from now.

tilosi--

I would check the size of the air cells on these first. If they are on target for 18 day size air cell, you can raise the RH. I often have chicks hatch out in the incubator at 35% RH. If they are quick to zip they do fine getting out.

If the air cell size is too small, is there a fan in the incubator? Many things you can do other than rice. And I would not increase the humidity until air cells are at correct size.
Some people reduce the temp a hair to buy time.

I don't hatch silkies, so I don't know if they have special need to hatch.

If the air cells are fine, consider adequate ventilation inside the incubator/hatcher. Otherwise consider improving the feed quality to the breeder birds.

Hope you find an answer fast. GL

Candled my lonely Pheasant this morning its still wiggling around!!!! Should be at most a week till hatch. which is good I have 5 eggs under Black Broody that are due to hatch this week and four due next week that will come in to the bator for hatch. Got my fingers and toes crossed!!!!
