we've got 3 generators, and i've got my hubby trained. first thing that happens when the power's out for more than 10 minutes, is start up the big gennie. run a cord in for the 'bators... then, if it stays off while he's doing that, he'll start up the other generator on the mains interlock override - a big switch that turns house off the main power and onto the generator. that way if the power comes back on while the generator is running, things don't go kapow. then i run a 200' extension cord down to the barn/temp pole and back up with just a light on it, so we know when the main power's back on.

after the house is back up and running, the 'bators and brooders get switched over so we can turn off the little gennie.

We have whole house generator. 30 seconds after electricity goes off, it cuts on. Love it.

We are planning to have one of those when we build the new house.

I need a generator.... this year I will get one. I have lots of things on my WISH list for this year. I saw some brooder heaters I would like too, but at $100 each and I would need at least 4.... and maybe 4 $79 ones..... DREAMING. My list is longer this year, but more specific as I get some chicken experience under my belt.

We have a little Honda 2000 watt generator. It's really really quiet and easy to use. It can run my hair dryer, which is very important when the power is out

One of these days we'll have the whole house wired up, or at least some critical circuits, but in the meantime it's great to have a portable efficient generator ready to go.

As soon as my hens have been with their new roo another week or so, I'll be starting up another batch in the bator. The timing also coincides with our spring windstorms....power outages here we come!

FINALLY the turner is fixed again in the MEGA bator. The plastic gear stripped AGAIN

I bought 4 motors this time so I have spare parts for next time. I just need to find the gears and buy them in BULK.

Candled again today and made some more room.... expecting 3 doz GSBR eggs anytime.

I'm waiting for the sun to go down so I can candle your eggs. Glad your turner is fixed!
