Incubators Anonymous

i have had great luck with swedish flower hens. i just ordered more eggs from different suppliers.
Glad to know that SFH were Swedish Flowers. I was afraid it stood for Salmon Favorelles. I just put 16 Salmon Favorelles in my incubator....along with 8 SLW, 6 Runner Ducks and 10 barnyard mixes for my friend.

thanks for the advice. I have tried three times with SFH and the second hatch was good. I know that there are a limited number out there but it's the color I like. I want to have pretty and good egg producer.

well, for just eggs, i think they're supposed to be pretty good. bulldogma said today on the sfh thread that she was getting overrun with eggs. LOL i commented she needed to incubate them all. (largest swap in the state is may 4)

I thought about keeping them.... they seemed like good layers but the chicks I got were just not hardy. I can't keep a breed I can't keep alive. If I EVER have a layer pen, I think they would be PRETTY to have in the layer pen and good layers too.

Can I incubate ginuea hen eggs and chicken eggs together?

They incubate the same way... just longer. Mine tend to hatch early more like day 23-24 I think... been a few months LOL. I have just started getting my first guinea eggs can't wait to start hatching. I have several swaps of guineas coming too... excited to add some new colors to my flock... especially since I lost about 6 to my son's dogs the past few weeks.

Oh that's terrible :( so do you just set the ginuea eggs and then wait a week and set the chicken eggs with them?
