I think I finished the extra work on the New Hatcher..... YEAH! I have it running to see if it gets to temp and stays there. I have a 5 gal water tank on top. Not sure yet if I need it but we will see. It was at 95 and temps were still going up slowly. I need to add my puck lights and MAYBE I will be in business.....

In other chicken news.... my old hatcher killed about 10 chicks. I have 5-6 more that may not make it. It got to 102 for some reason. I don't have a fan in that hatcher and when I have big hatches it scares me. The new hatcher has a little fan and is not NEXT to the heat so I feel better about that.

My new hatcher is working great..... I just need to get the humidity up. I put the water in the bottom compartment next to the heater and the water is cold and not evaporation. I might have to add another fan but didn't want to have too much air movement. The heater has a fan already. I added some other water sources with wicks but my wicks don't work great. I don't want to use diapers I want a permanent solution.

Hubby thinks my washcloths are not cotton and that is why they are not WICKING the water. It is hard to find the right kind of sponges but I will keep an eye out for them. I may have to put water in each drawer.....or breakdown and add a fan.

They that built it suggested using the flexwatt UNDER the water pan. I may try that today I have some mounted on backer board and can use a tin pan under the water pan and a brick to hold it off the flexwatt. Today is lockdown and I really want to use this new hatcher NOW.

Vaporizer?

My hatch is over I think. I didn't get a very good one this time. only about 30% out of 41 eggs 15 hatched. 31 were shipped eggs. I went into lock down with 26. The others were all clear except one blood ring.
All the ones that hatch had no trouble and no sticky chicks or anything. I just wish it was better. I was good about the lock down time and resisted opening. LOL It is very hard sometimes. All the eggs that pipped hatched. The others are still sitting there for a day or so. This is day 22. Last chick hatched last nite. I removed all the chicks this morning into brooder

Vaporizer?

I'm hatching my first hatch right now too. I'm liking a rolled up wet with warm water paper towel.

Hi everyone,I am new and I was just wondering what would be a good incubator without spending a ton of money? I had one about 15 years ago it was a little giant.I remember that it was hard to maintain the temp.maybe little giant has improved in the last 20 years.I'm wanting one that will maintain or auto a just.Any Ideas?.
