Incubators Anonymous

Would I be better off moving the egg to the 1602 and using the wonky one as a hatcher? It wouldn't need to get up nearly so high to hatch in.. I just don't want to break it!
i would say if you have access to an air compressor, or canned air like you use on computer stuff, blow it out real good... could be dust on the contacts which is why it's not heating well.

Innovative incubator.

Just be careful it does not catch fire. How are you monitoring the humidity and temps? If you can get your hands on a styrfoam cooler you can regulate the temp better.

Cuckoo Marans don't lay as dark of an egg yet. I am working on it. First I had to get some type, feathered legs and now I can work on egg color too. Just happened to improve this generation in my cuckoos. A couple lay as dark as my lightest Coppers.

Let us know how you hatch goes!

Quote: I can get one. Good idea. I don't believe it's ever been hatched in, only incubated. Still could have dust so it's worth a shot. I'm afraid that it could kick in and fry the eggs..

same ones i've been using. picture window hovabators... had em going on 2 years, blow the fans out about every 2 months for the incubators and every time i clean for the hatcher.

Yay for hatching eggs! Good luck everyone!

I've got a bunch coming this week too, which scares me a bit with the incubator issues going on here. Had some sent to a friend enabler who offered to hatch them for me in case it craps out altogether. It's a lot of eggs and I am so grateful that I don't have to risk losing them! Thinking of sending a few more to her to set too. I have some going into LD today and will be setting some Breda to replace those lost, Silver Spangled Hamburgs and Hedemora later this week. Need a few more pullets to go with Flash and Napoleon the Hedemora cockerels.. lol They're so funny.

Removed the eggs from the wonky incubator last night after finally giving up and am in the process of stabilizing it enough to use as a hatcher. It's having a lot less trouble staying at hatching temps than incubating, so hopefully it will be okay to use. Will just have to continue watching it like a hawk. Three days of staying up most of the night is really taking a toll. Sigh.
