Hi. My name is Vaughn. I am a hatchoholic. Been setting a dozen eggs a week since February. Also been building pens and coops to handle all my chicks. Here are some of my chicks.

I so LOVE those baby polish.... I had some white crested black polish, and they were awesome. my daughters called them Pollys because they said they looked like PollyD with a blowout... I had to give mine away because the other birds would not leave their crest alone and at that time i had only one pen.

I want to hatch again but I can't because I have no room!!!

I have to know what the breed is of that beautiful cheeky chick in your avatar?

That would be a McMurray chick --Mottled Houdans, I got two of them named "Dunder" and "Mifflin" :p i need to get a roo named Dwight ;)

Here she is at a few weeks older--I don't have a current pic, I need to get one, her head feathers are about twice as tall now and they stand straight up, so cute :) She was hatched on 03/01

I've been following along. I'm a chicken addict/hatching addict in withdrawal because of the killer dog. I have 18 eggs in the bator...lavender ameraucanas, blue cochins, and welsummers. I ordered these because the lavs by request of my daughter. She's a chick addict to. I had trouble hatching last year but am trying again. I have another 22 eggs on order so this better go good! I like hatching because I can get rare breeds but am also frustrated by the losses from shipping and difficulty hatching said chicks. But it doesn't stop me either. Now that's self-destructive, addictive behavior. I back up my hatching by hatchery purchases because I insist on having at least some live chicks when I'm done. Brooding is a bigger challenge for me lately because I have a rabbit living in the brooder we built. Has anybody seen this? look at post #727 https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/6233/brooder-thread-post-pics-of-your-brooders/720 It's my next step until I can build another brooder and find a safe place for it outside. I actually saw this on pinterest first, but not surpirsed it comes from good-ole BYC.
