i dont think i have any cloth sadly and ill have to remove the entire lid to remove the egg turner.

what about a piece of hardware wire? Or even an old shirt or dish towel? You could leave them but I would feel terrible if the hatch didn't work out for you.

the eggs are due to hatch in 2 days but 2 of them are moving vigorously! and i heard a pip but i have a problem it a hovabator 1602 humidity at 75 and temp at 99 to 100 perfect. So the egg turner i left in because i mistimed the chicken egg hatching day and added duck eggs wich are due to hatch 2 weeks later. now i couldnt leave the duck eggs without turning while the chickens lied flat and i count lay the chickens flat while the duck eggs turned. So the rods that carry the eggs are able to be taken off and i took off 3 rows but under them was a plastic lining so i didnt know what to do i put the eggs in between these plastic lines and it seems movement for them would be hawhat should i do take out the egg turner their on their second day of lockdown i will lose valubale humidity and temp but how will the move to get to their air sacs what will i do i need an answer by today please!

personally I would just put them all flat and as long as there are no pips, turn the others as needed; then return to regular turning schedule as soon as the hatch is over; the other eggs will probably be fine.

ok re: duck and chicken eggs, I would take the turner out and hatch in egg cartons to keep the hatching chicks from playing soccer. the duck eggs (also in a carton) will survive a couple days not turning.

but I've heard of chicks getting stuck under the turner and squished because they couldn't get out and it kept turning. just my 2c, but it's easy enough to get humidity back up quickly, line the floor with paper towel, add hot water to the paper once everything's in place and put the lid back on. the water will evaporate from the paper towel pretty quickly and should go back up to where it should be,

I have done this with staggered hatches. Put the duck eggs in an egg carton with something under one end to make it tilt they only need to be turned once or twice a day the carton and prop make this easy to do without having to leave your bator open for long. When the other eggs start pipping externally don't open the bator it will not hurt the other eggs to not be turned for one day.

Last night I locked down 50 assorted chicken. I sure hope this hatch end better than the last.
