i could use a dozen broodies lol.

it would sure save some power running the bators and hens are way better at humidity control

wish I could loan you my Brahmas... they just won't stop being broody.. i'm afraid they will kill themselves

I had a dozen light brahmas in my current hatch but 12 of 12 came up clear on day 8.

I have brahmas due to hatch any day now. I've never had them but I've heard that they would be a good pet chicken.

Quote: true, but when you have a waiting list for eggs from the ONLY girl of a breed, broody is a BAD thing... and my bantam blrw girl has been penned for a total of 9 days, and has gone broody on me. not even long enough o be sure her eggs are pure.

think i'm going to just give her some babies for a week or 2... maybe that'll help.

not all the hatchery chicks are bad... My cochins happened to be very nice

Collecting my own eggs to start tomorrow..... 23 so far... BCM's

Came home this am to the chickens from my birthday/family reunion trip. #1 incubator had 2 chicks the house was 86 degrees, no electric, the whole village was out it lasted 12 hours. Both incubators are full of eggs. one fan in coop burnt out and one white cochin hen ( who never wants to come out of coop) dead still limp so she had just died when I checked on her this morning.

Both incubators are full of eggs. one fan in coop burnt out and one white cochin hen ( who never wants to come out of coop) dead still limp so she had just died when I checked on her this morning.

9 pm one egg just hatched so all hope is not lost.. how can I make a battery back up so this does not happen again to me.
