Incubators Anonymous

Quote: I think it's going to vary for everyone slightly, depending on location, local weather conditions, type of incubator, etc. nobody's going to get the same results with doing the exact same % of humidity & such...

one thing I do agree tho, incubating without adding any water seems to work the best regardless of where you might be (super dry areas like tx or Arizona may be another story, can't say from experience).

I think as long as it is in the vicinity of 20 -35% for the first part and then 45-60% at hatch, you will find success. So if you are in a dry area and the humidity falls below 20%, I would add water. Etc. Like you said, location, weather patterns, room condition, etc. will make everyone's situation different.

Just a little second hand brinsea octagon 10, but it means I can have 2 hatches at a time, with different start dates, so I won't have to wait a full 3 weeks between hatches!!!!![/quote]

I have 4 hovabators... all originally still air, I've added 12v fans to each (running on 6-9v power supplies, blowing UP), and added auto turners to 3 of them. the 4th is a dedicated hatcher.

I've gotta get going tho. I've only got 1 egg in one of them, due on the 10th. LOL time to set more eggs, but my dorkings have decided to go on strike or something. I've gotten 1 egg each day for the last 3, out of 10 girls.

When you run only one egg do you put heat sincs in with the egg to hold the temperatures steady? I have heard of putting rocks, bottles of water, etc. in to hold the temperatures - I was wondering if you did this?

Bad Dorkings!
