must be a guy thing... hubby named my last two stud colts... granted after explanations their names make sense, but at first, you're thinking... wha?
that would be Dingle, and Dinker. Dingle's momma is blind, so he wore a bell... Dinker was just tiny (aka dinky)...

I normally dont name animal except pets.

If I was in the Philippines with my goats, I would have probably just put a tag in their ear but when I am dealing with animal husbandry using text messaging, Feta is easier than "the little brown and black one"

So.... If I am going to name them, I will at least give them names that describe their purpose. The last goat to be born was Stewie.

So I take it you have had a BBQue, Ribs, and Shank?

when my kids were growing up all buck kids were named BBQ, all pigs were named PorkChops & Bacon. They could name breeding rabbits but none of the babies.

Now that it's just me, I don't usually name anything, unless they earn it in some way. Still most of them go in the pot at some point or another. So _most_ of the chickens are just called by their band # unless they came to me with a name. Tho I do have a grey EE roo named Earl and recently acquired a silkie pullet whose name seems to be Princess- she even comes when called ;-0

On a more positive note. My mutt eggs are hatching 1 looks to be from the leghorn and 2 from the Barred Rock. 2 more are pipped and still working on getting out..They should be from Rir or rir mix hens. The rooster is a unknown breed.

I usually don't name livestock but my wife and daughter(11) think it's hilarious telling ppl that our 3 steers are named Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner
