I must have taken a lot of pics of my beautiful chick.
Now as an adult, she's always ready to strike pose.

.....Even when I'm trying to take a pic of another chick
She Looks like an Orpington Roo Barred Rock Hen Cross. The females come out like this and the males come out almost silver. Color sexing for first generation!

Yes "Precious" really is a camera hog. I learned early on never to try & take a pic with her on my lap. (I was aiming for the flock under the tree....)

Even when I try to get a pic of the kids, she shows up in the photos. lol

Precious is a mutt but also one of the family. She's become a pet who will be with us until she dies a natural death.

My daughter practicing reading aloud with Precious.
(Precious lives in the coop but may come inside for a visit if the weather allows it.)

Hi everybody, I also like to incubate. I bought some eggs from a chicken person and incubated a dozen of them. Every single egg was fertile and Saturday I started getting chicks and I have 10 out of the 12 so far. That is the most I have gotten ever. One I had to help with because it had been trying to get out since Satruday morning so this morning I said times up. I don't know what will become of it but it was having such a hard time I figured it was worth a try. I still have two eggs that are trying to hatch also. Couldn't believe my luck. They are a mix of Barred Rock, Ameraucanas and White Leghorns. I jus thought it would be fun to do some eggs again and never dreamed I would end up with that many chicks.

Can u guys tell me the types of incubators u use? I'm looking at getting a Janoel8-48 automatic incubator anybody try this one yet? And what do u mean by dry incubate until 18th day?
I had a poor hatch ratell on my last 3 incubation with a the little green still air incubator and I put a small fan in there but I'm getting sticky chicks
I'm hoping to prevent this for my future hatchlings
