Incubators Anonymous

Thanks, I am really happy about how it came out. It has room for 150+ eggs but I probably won't got that crazy!
Yea, Yea We have heard ALOT of "Hatchaholic's" say that---including myself. I remember a year ago I had 42 in a styrofoam, then I filled the second styrofoam a couple weeks later----got hooked, built a cabiet incubator and a hatcher-----now app 2400 chicks later, 175 chicks out the hatcher 3 days ago, app 225+ eggs going in the hatcher Monday as of last night--2 cabinet incubators full and 3 styrofoam full----705 eggs incubating as I type this--------Nooooo I will never Hatch more than a Styrofoam full---Yea---I don't believe that!!!! LOL Good Luck from one Hatchaholic to another one!!

Looks Good!!, Where do you put your water at? What type thermostat are you using? Does it have a fan/s in it?

Did you start with something or is it completely from scratch? I have an old dishwasher I want to concert, but my husband thinks the inside dimensions are too small, so he thinks we should just start from scratch. We want a large Sportsman type or like yours (looks great) but Sportsman's are expensive!

Thanks, there is room under the bottom shelf if I need water but I mostly dry incubate. It is at 30% humidity right now. There is a compartment on the back with its own door that has the lights and two adjustable speed fans blowing into the cabinet. I bought the thermostat (temperature controller is how it is listed) from ebay, it is installed on the lower right, into the back cabinet. I have a few of them and they are so nice! My first incubator only had a dimmer switch!

The brown part is actually a big shelf that my sister was getting rid of and it looked like just the right size. It would have been easier to make that part of plywood, but I like to reuse things and save money. I just threw the whole thing together and hoped it would just need a little tweaking to get it working just right. I did have to drill more large holes between the heating cabinet and the incubator side. At least when you are working with wood it is easier to make holes, etc. I just had to buy wood for the front door, plexiglass, hinges, thermostat, fan and wheels. I get most of my fans and extension cords from a used computer part thrift store.

That was my thought, too!

Oh you teasers!! You are probably right. The inspiration to get it finished was all the fertile duck eggs being laid right now and knowing the turkeys are going to start soon. And then there are the Seramas and Quail. I have never hatched in such volume before so I am a little nervous. I am basically trying to have as many as I can sold before they are even hatched!

I did have dream about a walk-in closet size incubator... how awesome would that be???!!!

My chicks are 4 weeks old today and doing well. I posted some pics of them on my profile page. I just wanted to share a couple of them with you guys.
I guess I should have used a darker background. The one on the right is much darker then this picture. Love the markings on it's eyes.
I just love this picture. The chick was stretching out and peeping away. Sending out it's cry for help.
