I have a sportsman 1502 and the 1550 hatcher. hatcher stays at 55% (I let it dry when nothing's hatching) and the incubator stays right at 15-20%. this was my last hatch (local eggs not shipped)Well I guess I've been lucky. I always put water in the incubator and I also do the sponge thing in the hatching time.I guess I just wanted to see what others did and get some input. I usually keep my humidity at around 40. And the last three days I crank it up to around 70 and I've had real good luck. I hatched 10 out of 12 my last time. So I guess I'll just see how it goes using that same method. Thanks all for the info.
and yes, I hatch in the trays. makes life much easier since chicks aren't scrambling the other eggs running around like nuts.
3 out of 48 not hatched. 1 was clear.
today is day twenty four of incubation after reading and researching I read that before I just toss them I should examine the chick and try and determine what went wrong. I just opened my first egg at the end of the air cell just to see if I saw movement I didn't so I preceded to open the membrane and I saw the chick moving I was so horrified I didn't know what to do so I put it back in the incubator I literally killed that chick now I'm scared that they all might be still alive tomorrow will be day 25 any suggestions ? I have four thermometers which seem to be accurate because they all read the same I have two trays of water with sponges in them I don't know what to do
