N0, just put them in the turner pointed end down----Make sure the turner is working----by checking the position of the eggs about every 30 minutes for a couple hours. Any other questions---feel free to ask!Hi I need so incubating help do you have to flip the eggs in an automatic incubator PS I am sure I will become an eggaholic
When the room temp eggs are 1st added, the incubator temp will go down & take a while to go back up. If you have the space to add a couple water bottles, they may help hold the heat in to avoid big temp swings whenever you open the lid.I may have some Buff Orpington eggs coming next week. Incubator is plugged in and running to get it up to temp. Want to make sure it will get up to temp and maintain the temp. That was the issue with the last hatching. Temp took a nose dive twice.
What type incubator are you using?I am not using a Styrofoam incubator and the temp drops were not when the incubator was opened. It was during the last week. We got a cold spell and even with blankets and towels packed on it the incubator could not hold the temp. I had one hatch go bad due to it being unplugged an the last one the temps was dropping no matter what we did. My husband is thinking we may have to relocate it to another room and see if that is the problem. It is currently located in a northern room. Humidity was not a problem. That was staying at 50 to 60 %. The temp kept dropping to 20 C instead of the 37 it should have been.
I do not understand this--How cold does your home have to get for the temp in the incubator to drop to 20C???Being I am in NE Wisconsin 20 C is nothing for us to hit.
Even putting my hand inside I can tell it in not an error with the display. I ut another thermometer in it to check for a bit over 24 hours and it read the same as the digital read out.
Maybe I can convince my husband to move it up into the front room where the room stays warmer.
I do not know Celsius but I looked it up for this conversation. So you saying its holding 87F, what is the incubator set at----99F? And it want get any warmer?? What is the present room temp where the incubator is at??Currently the incubator is at 31 C. So that room gets cold even with the rest of the house being much warmer. We have yet to figure out why that room is always so cold. It is currently 73 F outside and the incubator is holding at 31 C which is about 87 F. So 20 C would be about 68 F. Even when the outside temp was in the 90s F that room was 10 to 20 degrees colder.
I have gotten into the bad habit of doing temperatures in Celsius rather than Fahrenheit due to the kids learning Celsius. We hit -40 Fahrenheit a few time in the winter.
