Oh man. So, eggs are placed in the bator at 7pm Saturday. Day 21 will be 7pm Sunday (3 weeks later, of course).....correct? So, I'd want to up the humidity and take the eggs out of the turner on day 18, which will be Thurs on the final week.

Got it. Makes sense.

2 More hatches this morning, 1 started to pip this early morning (Currently 6:45AM, 11/10/2015).




both Rhode Island Reds, Waiting for my second and last Light Sussex to hatch.

Guess it would depend on the tire swing and the type of chicken eggs.

Got a forced air incubator, and just put in a batch of eggs
I had the temp a perfect 37.5C but the humidity was a little high at around 61-62%
So I took out one tray of water at the bottom which brought the humidity down to about 58% which was perfect (recommended humidity for my incubator is between 55-60%)
But once I did that for some reason the temp would drop to about 37C

Am I better off having the humidity a touch higher rather than the temp being a touch lower??

You getting confused!! If you put the eggs in at 7pm on Saturday----7pm on Sunday the eggs will have incubated 1 day. 7pm on Monday will be day 2 etc. Mark your calendar for 21 days(which would be Saturday 3 weeks later). On the 18th day, you remove the turner and raise the humidity.

Yep, figured out where my thinking went wrong. I locked down the eggs a little bit ago. Hopefully, I can get that humidity up. I tried candling for air cells the best I could but those BCM eggs are tough. There's a few SLW/BCM eggs in there that are a bit lighter. Hoping for the best these next few days.....

Some do things one way, some do them another way. I have hatched over 5500 eggs in a little over a year now and have Never checked the air cell much less mark it. I have 95 to 100% hatch rate so I see no need in getting into doing that. I feel there is alot more important things to do.

The BCM are hard to candle, but I can tell if the eggs are fertile and growing. Here is wishing you a great hatch!!
