Oh, K,
I wish I could help with the chicklets, but I cannot.
I can say, however, that AliceAnn was more than happy to broody golf balls (or eggs or nothing at all!). Some hens just sit!
Good luck with your dilemma!

how many days do you have to get eggs in the bator? i forgot sense last year. I have some I want to hatch out but want to make sure i am not to late. I think its 7 days? is that correct. I need to get a thermometer. I was broken into and they took everything. We were in the process of moving. They took my timers i use and thank goodness i got the old wooden bator out. Its an Leahy brand. Never been used and DH paid 20.00 for it at one of our trade days. I need to figure out the temp so I can get them in and then go and get me a thermometers.

I do not want to hatch them but not sure if one of my hens will and can sit on 7 eggs on her own.

You have up to 10 days to get the into the incubator after they are collected. Sorry that you were robbed. We have had a rash of that going around lately and the cops have been patrolling so hopefully the person will be caught soon. Good luck with your eggs and finding the person who took your things.

10days. after that the chances of developing decrease each day, but i've heard of eggs more than 14 days old hatching... so give it a go. what have you got to lose? besides a few eaten eggs that is. LOL

That's so funny never thought the boys would go broody lol

I'll candle his eggs tonight...

Cant wait to hear the report on how they are doing. Would be cool if the boys would give the girls a break and tale over the nesting lol.

Ok we got the front on all the breeding pens

and we are taking tomorrow off. Except the FREE Privacy fence I scored today we have to pick up tomorrow. More than enough to go around the breeding pens

We both have tennis elbow from pulling nails, staples, hammering and general tugging everything. So I told hubby just casually that you know when we get done I have to do some test hatches over the winter, "oh sure I knew that..." I think he is addicted too now.

Now i just have to figure out how to feed in these breeding pens ....

oh good then i have plenty of time. I thought it was 7 and that would have been tomorrow. So off to Dollar General tomorrow to get me another temp gage. so 21 days from now I will have full blood buffs and lavender Orps. So excited.

Be setting about 18 or so.
