anyone relocated broodies before? i created a thread with specifics, here...

yesterday i worried about her not eating/drinking... hubby pointed out to me chickens have been doing this for thousands of years and haven't died yet.

today she was off the nest a couple times when more dominant hens went in to lay. but she sure ate plenty then LOL

looking for tidbits of wisdom from the broody-gurus out there.

When mine get glued on the nest, i pick them up at least once a day and put them in front of the waterer and feeder. But I think it really just makes me feel better. Never heard of one starving herself to death.
Woot ! Hatched out ten chicks today! What a bunch of cuties! Put 48 more eggs in, going to get more silkies tomorrow ! Ever heard of blue splash? I can't wait!!!

I was just looking at those lol but my incubator is full so I have to wait until they hatch. I candled at 6 days and saw veining but no dark spots will candle again on Wednesday to see if they are still growing well. Threw one stinker out and one bloodring so down to 39. Still pretty good though.

My parents said no incubating until spring. But I got the coolest looking eggs today and just had to put them in. I got three, but with my luck I will get ZERO hatch.

So it isnt bad because they arnt going to hatch anyway.

My husband got my eggs that were accidentally sent to Florida and brought them back, so I put them in the Bator. Not much likelihood they will hatch but I have to try.
Went and bought some splash cochins and blue splash silkies today:woot

Candled tonight and out of 41 eggs 37 have either veining or frowing embryos. 5 were questionable because I couldn't see movement but they still had veining. Lockdown in 10 days can't wait.
