Well I have the a nice looking Ameracana baby chick. Her coloring and muffs are prefect, but the problem is she is missing an eye and is crossed beak. I don't have it in me to cull her so I'll try to save her. No babies for her she will be a house pet.

Awww poor girl, I tell you what, my crossed beak rooster is my best little guy, everyone calls him The Escort because he will greet you at the car, follow you to the door, and patiently wait to be patted and loved on. Just be prepard to keep that beak trimmed back a bit and to feed it soft food.

Just went and checked on the zippers again and noticed that two of them were no longer breathing one was a Delly and the other was a Comet. Taking a look at the chicks I noticed that they were very big. I don't think the chick had enough room to turn around and get the zipping done properly. No other explanation they were both perfectly formed little babies

. Two other zippers are out now and one more is almost out.

That brings my total up to 7 out of the egg one zipped and almost out and two dead trying to hatch. 21 more still to go but no pips from any of them so far hopefully they will do something soon. I am feeling a little worried now after losing two of them.

Thank you, it is sad to see such a baby not be able to be a mama. Ah well she will be spoiled like my 3 legged one eyed, and eared pig that lived for 10 years.

That is sweet of you to keep her and spoil her, I've sworn I'll cull Crooky one day, but I never see it happening, I just keep him away from the hens for a month if I want to set eggs, he is just too sweet! Every morning he sits on my lap while I have my coffee and grooms my arm and shirt.

well my last EE egg had a bit of an accident (i guess you'd call it that?). looking at the webcam pics while i was gone, it looked like he pipped, and the 3 chicks that had hatched just prior to my leaving took it upon themselves to 'help'.

I hope your baby was okay. I wish I had known the ones I had needed help. I would have helped them out. They were so big they couldn't turn to zip poor things.

How much do they want for it? K only paid 40 for mine new so if it's 10 years they shouldn't want more than 10 for it or it probably worth it.

Had 8 finish hatching last night but then lost two that were too huge to hatch. The other 21 aren't doing anything so not sure if they will hatch or not.

THey want $30. ANd it's about a 30 minute drive to the neighboring town.

I bought a new one this summer for $60. $30 seems so much better than $60. But not if it's not as good as a newer LG.
