Well, we live in a duplex right now, so I'm going to have to keep myself semi under control until we can move into a house with a real yard where I can build a chicken city. We're looking at a place on 17 acres so here's to hoping.

lol dog house to small house to big house to horse trailer in about a year. now i'm building breeding pens. but they aren't for breeding yet because i'm overrun with chicks. but the chicks aren't for sale yet because i need to see how they mature and keep the best for breeding, then i'll sell off the extras.

the doghouse is retired, the little house is now home to 5 bantam cochins until the chicks learn to free range and outgrow the breeding pens and upgrade to the horse trailer and all-day freedom.

i'm also building another breeding pen, because i'm getting 3 more birds by mail this coming week, and picking up another hen at a show on the 12th. then i'll be able to set up my mille roo with his 2 new girls, my black/lavender trio with the new lav girl, and the current pen will be for the whites who are with my blacks at the moment (they don't know free ranging yet).

Much easier to keep them happy if they don't know free ranging. I have a few breeders penned now and they pace wanting their old life back. COme fall they can free range again for the winter.

My dog house that was a turkey coop for two sat idel when we built the new turkey coop ( read former greenhouse converted) and then intended to use the dog house as a nesting box. BUT the dog house didn't fit thru the door!

Well, we will either be moving in November or two years from now. Military is jerking us around right now so we don't know when my husband will be getting out just yet. I do know that I'm tired of waiting for my little fluff butts though.

Thank you for your husband's service !!! And yours, too. I know military families make huge sacrifices. THank you.

Starting with a few is a great way to learn your way around chickens. What feeders you like, what waterers. ANd to find resources. Like BYC!! Many different chickens to choose from.

And she packs quite securely, so they'll arrive safely..

What would you charge to ship to Rhome Texas Zip code 76078
I am not sure if you can tell if they are roosters or hens yet, but would like a Rooster and say 3 hens. Three Hens is a good ratio for 1 Roo right.
Let me know what you would charge and I will discuss it with Hubby. He took a few of my Roosters that I did not need to one of our Trade days. So maybe I can use the money from the sale of them to get yours
thanks

Okay lock down today for my bator that is out in the barn. I need to really write down the model number of it. I want to say 1522. I took them off the turners and put them in the hatching tray on the bottom. I am thinking of going out in a little bit to just make sure the humidity is okay. I think for the next hatch I am going to bring the incubator in the house. I have a spot just off my kitchen where it can be put. Be so much easier to keep an eye on it that way.
