well, disappointing but understandable... had some araucana shipped in (7 intact, 1 smashed). none of the 7 developed beyond 7 days. set some dorking eggs but i think my roo's on vacation LOL we'll see. picked up another sg dorking cockerel last week, so now big guy and junior have some competition. they better get on the ball.

My Marans roo was slacking off so he was removed and replaced with his brother LOL.

Sorry about the eggs, I am thinking those are hard to hatch. I didn't have much luck hatching for someone else.

Did you get the BLRW girl from Jr?

Well did some candleing today. I tossed a few guinea I have less than 60 maybe 4-6 less. Most look great. I saw 3 BLRW growing 1 other iffy. I got some replacement BLRW from CA 8 set-3 are developing.... she knew that... that is why she is looking for a new roo. My cuckoos where looking pretty good..... I saw a few I should have tossed, but I wanted to wait till day 14 to make sure. My good flashlight broke so it was hard to see very well.

Going to a flea market Saturday to sell all my extra pullets.... I don't have any cages.... any suggestions on how to show them? I have one long cage I can take... but that is it.

ok, off the wall but here's a question for you all... does anyone collect dollhouse stuff? I'm trying to see if there would be a market for doll house (1:12 scale) chicken coops & stuff.

here's my first attempt. not quite finished but getting there. unpainted at the moment, but a friend wants to 'artsy' them up. 8)

full sized scale is 8' long, 4' wide and 2' tall on the pen, just under 3' for the peak of the house section. this is what i use as my bantam breeding pens for a quad of cochins. for LF probably a pair would do.

I like it! I don't do doll houses anymore, but I like it!

Quote: yeah true araucana have issues affecting fertility, such as the tufted gene being lethal when homozygous, rumplessness makes it hard for the roo to do his 'job', etc. add on top of that usps scrambling them...

yes, i did get the blrw from Junior... but they're going to swap with me saturday. worked a trade for 3 of your blue barred chicks. 8)
i'm not overly impressed, but maybe someone else will like them. the roo is HUGE!. but the lacing is incomplete/poor... my guess is they are an intermediate step on it's way to becoming laced... basically one parent was blue laced red, the other some other color. who knows.

They are splash right? yeah the lacing is not great. Is the color brassy or dark....it is hard to get a good idea on the splash. They blues look so different than the splash.

yes, they're both splash. she's darker, and his color isn't really brassy, but not dark either. then again he's moulting and the feathers are coming in darker than before...
