Incubators Anonymous

last week we lost power and I put the bator in the car with the converter......I thought it was very resourcefull LOL

Does anyone have Lavender Orpington eggs to trade or Naked Neck eggs or Coronation Sussex eggs or Delaware eggs to trade. I want to change my breeds and don't have the money to go out and buy all of them.

I will have delawares as soon as they start laying. Any day now...
I'm having a fit not to break out my incubators...I'm doing really good not to look for eggs (sitting on hands). This waiting until next spring is not fun.

Good luck on your delawares.

The sale yesterday was DEAD. I had to BEG to sell 20 pullets from 3 months to laying for $85..... I could not take them back home I needed the pens more than I needed the birds

I get that on occasion too, but since I turn by hand I usually catch them before they actually start hatching all over the place. I find a couple pipped & get them moved to the hatcher...LOL

Quote: actually, i'm finding i have better hatch rates this summer, if i don't put them into lockdown until day 19...
Me too! I didn't do it on purpose but lockdown got pushed to day 19 a lot over the summer and they did great!

I don'tt have chicks popping out YET..... I have had that problem

I was candleing one day and there they were all over the floor of the incubator.... 100% hatch too

I put them on the calender a whole week off

I have dated them in the past, and just to be safe since my plate is pretty full now, I am dating them again. Makes it easier to pick the right ones too

I have a new little Lakenvelder chick this morning and two more pipped, with one more in lockdown. A few days from now, 23 Bobwhite quail are also locked down and ready to hatch.

Then all I'll have are the two sets of 42 eggs in each of the other two incubators...................................*must wait until I get home from Mexico to set more eggs*
