Incubators?

Does everyone use an incubator? I'm a newbie and planning to get a roo in the new year. I'm wondering if it's necessary or just preferable.

It depends on how many chicks you want and if your hens go broody enough to hatch them. But the short answer is that most everyone who wants chicks from their own stock ends up buying an incubator at some point, hens just aren't as reliable, and they don't want their chick production to be at the mercy of the hens moods.
