IncuCube Bator

I finally got to open my box yesterday afternoon and start setting it up. Like others my autoturner was broken at the spot in the bend. Honestly the previous picture by Flyweed could have been from my turner. Email has been sent regarding that. I hadn't even thought of the need to add water during lock down but I like the solution that Iwarctic has and am going to try something similar. Since this is my first ever hatching I don't have anything to compare it to. My temp had been pretty steady last night along with humidity so as long as it still is after supper I guess I'm setting some eggs tonight. I can deal with hand turning, not thrilled but I'll deal with it.

the directions don't say how long the turner takes for one full rotation..but if it's anything like the other turners on the market, it takes an hour for one full rotation..you won't hardly see it move.

Mine is loaded with eggs 9 shipped eggs I was going to hatch out some local ones but ran out of room so we'll see temp is perfect all day humidity is a little high but I'll let the water run out before I add more thinking of adding one large container with a hose too so I don't have to open it. I do not plan on hatching with it unless I have too. Lined it with plastic wrap fit very nice in case I have too and I'll add a piece of shelf liner to help but I would rather not being that it is Styrofoam

So far, the Temperature has been very steady in the incucube. Stays between 99.5 and 99.6. As stable as my bigger hovabator and I don't have to open it 3 times a day because I have a turner for it. So by comparison I think it is working very well. I put my eggs in Monday evening so its still not time for me to candle yet. I'm wondering when I go to lock-down if it will have enough oxygen in it for the chicks? I understand about the vents in the window area, just will it be enough or should I drill some holes with my dremmel?

I used a little silicon lubricant and got the turner going again.

I'll be candling these eggs on Sunday, (day 10)

Just wanted to post an update for everyone. We are very actively pursuing rev2 of the IncuCube and Turner. I don't have a firm date yet, but I will keep everyone posted about the progress. We don't expect it to take very long to get everything finished (should be by the end of next week, but there are still some loose ends that need to be firmed up like delivery dates of parts, etc. So please be patient).

Thanks for all the feedback and your patience.

My incuCube is up and running, the temp seems to be holding really well, and my humidity with 2 cups in bottom is at 50- 52%. I feel ready to put my eggs in, but I am wondering if the humidity is too high to start off with. I have never had any luck with hatching in a bator, and I have read some people think that is too high, don't know. Also I have a few eggs in the fridge I am wondering about adding but my fridge is 39o. Would that be too risky?

Well the temp typically still fluctuates from 98.5 up to 101.7 I hope I'm in the ball park.

I am going to have to figure out how I'm going to add water at lockdown. I'll probably just drill a hole an put in a tube into one of the little reservoirs.

I'm finding that when the humidity get's below 30%, if I just add two squirts (one in one corner, on in the opposite corner) of water from an old cleaned out Afrin bottle, the humidity will go right back up to about 39%... I try to average 35% for the first 18 days here in Phoenix.

I'll be candling on Sunday. That will be the first big test for me.

I set my 12 eggs in and now I'm wondering where are you supposed to put the temp/hum thingy at. Right now I have it laying on top of the eggs in the turner, but I don't think that is where it should be. I thought about taping it to the underside of the cover with duck tape. How have the rest of you handled this?. I only have the one they sent with the kit.
