IncuCube Bator

This is my first day here and I need a question answered soon. I bought 2 2week old white Lerhorns and a day old Americana and a day old Buff Orfingyon. One of the leghorns has diarrhea. I was reading the posts about butts. I don't want the other chicks to get it. Do I need to seperate the runny poop chick or is it not catching?

You're in the wrong thread but I might guess that it's from the stress of moving just make sure it drinks and stays warm but not too hot. If you go to the raising chicks thread somebody will help too.

Randy said he was shipping them out Friday I'm waiting for a new turner but it hasn't shown up yet either. When he shipped mine I got a tracking # I don't have one yet and his wife has been sick too so I hope all is well he hasn't been on here for a couple of days.

I asked for a refund because the rev 2 missed my setting date yesterday and I haven't heard back from them...too bad I couldn't continue to participate. Anyone heard from Randy lately???

I got my revision #2 egg turner yesterday...it's made out of a more flexible plastic material..I really like it so far. Nice Job Randy!

I'm not too happy with mine went to lock down with the 5 remaining eggs and only have 2 that are good

and one of those is an iffy. The temp was great the turner worked even if it made noise I'm not hatching in it yet I'm saving my silkies for that test. I think it needs more ventilation I am considering adding holes since if I'm going to try and hatch in it I'll need a way to add water anyway. So I put eggs in it now that I think are a lost cause ie; shipped eggs handled very roughly so I'll see Friday if any of those make it. I really wasn't going to hatch anymore until fall but I might get 6 local eggs to see if it's just the shipping because if this incubator doesn't work I want to send it back I bought it to test eggs for me....I hope it's just the shipping

My revised turner came sat. I had one egg hatch yesterday but they were not due until today. My temp has been so steady I even took out the thermometer for a few days (for more space) the thermometer that came with it was way off so I used one of mine that was more accurate. I did move them to a hatching bator because I have staggered hatches in the incucube. Saw a pip yesterday in another egg before the early bird rolled it all around. Thinking about getting him out this morning to give the others a chance to hatch. Overall, I have been very happy with the temp, pretty rock solid. I did hand turn because my turner was broken. I let my humidity go down a good bit before I added water. Hatching at 50%, incubating at 25 to 35%, with a few spikes in humidity when I first add water. i will update when the hatch is over, but I am using shipped eggs, and I only had 5 in there to start with.

Randy,

I think, this far, all of us have given you very valuable feedback with regards to this first version of your IncuCube. I am going into Lockdown tomorrow in my IncuCube for 36 cortunix quail eggs. I am hoping for at least 50% hatch rate at this point.

I would hope that everyone who took part in this will be able to "trade in" these first models, for an updgraded #2 model that may work better than this one.

Just thought I'd throw this out there.

Thanks
Dan

I went to lock down yesterday. I filled up all 5 cups and my humidity was below 50, so i put in a hole in lower half of bator and added a piece of plastic tubing so I could fill up with more water if needed. So I added water into the bottom of the bator itself. Still my humidity is showing just 52%. I don't know if this will be high enough or not. I think the directions said 55--65% for the last 3 days. Any suggestions? Also I am using the egg carton method. Really it looks awful cramped in there.

Okay, My hatch is done, and I've ended up with 8 out of 12 hatched. I'm shocked, with the glue coming off being an issue.
