Incuview Incubator

In my experience it doesn't make any difference. They'll hatch when ready, come dark or shine.

The light being on was coincidence. I've gone to bed plenty of times with pips in the incubator, and woke to 3 chicks already out and dried. From the first exterior pip to hatching can take anywhere from 12 to 24 hours. If a chick pips late in the evening, it usually won't be ready for hatching until the next morning or afternoon.

(And I did turn off the light last night, and one did hatch in the dark.

Next question, which I'm sure has been answered infinite times.

10 chicks are out and almost all dry. One egg left unpipped and today is day 23. Should I leave the chicks in there to keep that egg company, or should I move the chicks to the brooder and give that last egg a few more days? The oldest chick is 36 hours old at this point.

Move the strongest, most rambunctious chicks to the brooder. Leave a few of the weaker/still recovering chicks in the incubator. Also, candle the unhatched egg. At this point, it should have at least internally pipped. If it hasn't, it's not likely to hatch.

Anyone have an opinion on incuview vs brinsea Eco 20. They are about the same price and I have a turner for the brinsea already. Really I'm looking to use as a hatcher and let the local school hatch eggs, mostly as a hatcher. I have an Eco 20 already and an advanced. Was looking into the incuview as a hatcher. I thought it would be good to have an incubator that can incubate eggs on their side and also be fully automatic if needed.

I have the IncuView. So far so good. I just plugged it in added water. Temperature holding. Turner turning eggs. All good

Set my 8 turkey eggs in the Incuview. Going to wait a few days and then fill it up the rest of the way with chicken eggs.

Lock dowm tomorrow. 3 eggs were not developing. Took them out. Rest looked good. I hope the rest are OK. No odor in the incubator. Never hatched chicken eggs before.

Oh you will love it! I just hatched my first ever two weeks ago. It was great being able to look in at the whole thing through the Incuview. Most of the time it was a little bit like watching paint dry. They pip, and then just nothing. But once they start zipping, each 1/4" seems to be an exciting event, lol. The hardest thing for me, was that with all the nothing happening after the pip, I had to go off once in a while to take care of actual things. And when I got back, I missed it- the chick was out! This happened three times! So then I spent the entire next day hovering. It was the longest day ever, but I finally got to see three zip and hatch at once!
