Incuview Incubator

Pics
The eggs were from our own flock, and less that a week old when set. I didn't candle early, but when we candled at about day 20, the air cells were properly established. Somehow the birds just didn't get themselves into proper position. I made mistakes (temperature and humidity) early in the process which may have affected them, but the ones that hatchedright right on schedule and are doing fine. I learned a lot this first time.

I just got this incubator for my Birthday. Will be setting eggs for it's first hatch (and mine) tonight.

I did a test run without eggs for a couple of days and it held temp VERY well. It is now up and running at 99.5, ready for eggs!

I am going to start my own thread to document my hatching adventure!

I got this incubator based on price and the reviews of the customer service. Three weeks ago I put in 6 green eggs from my Easter Egger and 7 of the big jumbo eggs I get. No idea what hen lays them but love them and want a flock of large brown/colored egg layers. I watched the air cell and were great except on day 18, air cells seemed small. I dropped humidity way down and candled every night. Saturday.. day 20.. I added water and left for work. I came home to 2 hatched. I got all but two hatched that day and through the night. The next day I had one brown and one green still to hatch. They had pipped.. but that was it. Finally they both hatched and there seemed to be an issue with them drying because by now I had the humidity really high. I have to say I am a bit excited at 100% hatch rate. The clear top was a lot of fun and the incubator did a great job. When the chicks started hatching, the other meter I had in to measure temp and humidity dropped lower than the incubator was showing by a few degrees. Incuview says 99.5 and the meter said 95. I had a aquarium thermometer in there as well and it seemed to be 99. I am going to invest in some good meters for the temp and humidity as I don't know who is off at this time. But overall I am very pleased with the incubator. After these grow out will invest in some Isbars I have had my eye one. Will not expect this kind of success with shipped eggs.. but at least I feel I have a incubator I can count on.
Congratulations! I'm thinking about this one for my next...did you use the auto Turner or do it by hand?

What kind of thermometer/hygrometer have you all used as a backup?

Are there any links to check the accuracy of both the temp and humidity?

Call me crazy, but I did not use a back-up for either. I did an empty 3 day test run with a wireless thermometer that we have here without knowing if the wireless therm was accurate. Both temps matched, which was good enough for me.

I did my part, ensuring that the outside temp was 70 or near 70, and relied on the built ins to do their job. After all, I did just fork over almost 200 bucks for this thing. It is my belief that those gauges had better be accurate!

My first hatch I started with 22 eggs. 11 were clears from day 3, one more was an early quitter. The remaining 10 made it to lockdown and hatched, all by relying on the built in gauges. I kept things a bit drier than the hygrometer suggested, not rushing to add water any time the gauge dipped below the recommended incubation humidity. I was careful to keep the humidity in the right range for lockdown and hatching, though.

I should also mention that my first hatch was literally my first ever hatch, both in the incubator and in an incubator in general. I followed the instructions, controlled what I could, and let the incubator do it's job.

I realize this may not be the case for all incubators, but it is what worked for me and this incubator.

I am super impressed with the incubator and its ease of use and clean-up afterwards. I highly recommend.

I used this hygrometer: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00A...hygrometer&dpPl=1&dpID=41219W+e2TL&ref=plSrch

My built in one doesn't work at all. It's always in the add water zone, even when RH is 50% or more. It sometimes will go up into the incubating zone. But when I incubate, I want to know the actual RH, not just that I'm in some preset "zone". So I don't really care if that one works or not. I would use a separate hygrometer anyway. I do love this incubator though. Definitely easy to clean!

I have a quick question if any of you can take a look for me. My two wires came loose, and I want to make sure I reconnect the red and black in the correct spots. This picture is with the lid upside down. Do yours have the black wire on the left and the red wire on the right? That seems the most likely based on the natural bend of the wire.

Thanks!

Mine works no matter which way you secure the wires.
