Eggs are supposed to lay on their sides in the incuview. It's not an upright egg turner.I chose this as my second incubator, my first is a brinsea mini adv. I have button quail eggs and serama eggs in there right now. I know the trays are meant to be universal, but the eggs seem like they might be too small for the auto turner?? I'm worried that the incremental turning won't be enough to push them as needed. Also, the quail eggs won't stay sitting straight and turn over to their sides. I'm hopeful they'll still roll, they seemed to move if I pushed the tray manually before I left the incubator be. The light of my display is also flickering with the top set down but I think it is just vibrations from the fan josting whatever is running it which is ultimately no big deal.
Other than these worries, I have really high hopes for finding reason to stick with and get more of these. The obvious draws for me was a very automated incubation, the big view and the capacity for the price. It has features I wasn't expecting that I was going to miss from my brinsea (mainly the countdown and the turner going off automatically at 3 days) and other nice perks I had no idea about: I love the illuminated display, how quietly it runs, and that I can position the probe where I want it. Mine got to temp in 5 minutes and has held/ I also like that everything isn't tucked away where it is not exactly easy to clean, and the screws on my brinsea mini advance rusted to the point of crumbling, so good luck to me getting those out again.. I'll have to have replacements bought and ready for the next time I get in there and clean out chick fluff. All of it seems easier to clean, honestly. The UI isn't understandable right off the bat but it isn't rocket science either, and what's more there is a UI AT ALL.. thank goodness.
