Hello...wondering if anyone has encountered anything like this. One of our Silver Grey Dorkings, 7 months old and healthy/laying, did not come into the coop one night about a week ago and was left in the yard overnight. This in itself was very unusual as she was usually right there on the roost with the others, and unfortunately we did not notice that she was not inside. When we saw her in the yard the next morning, she had a deep depression running down the front of her chest from throat to the crop area. She is eating, but has been subdued and inactive, and is not laying. There is no evidence of a wound or skin trauma. Her throat, crop and breast under the feathers feels just like our other chickens. It looks like the feathers are puffed out and going away from each other rather than straight down. She seems a bit puffy in general, her body looks rounder than it did before.
We are very puzzled and can't find any explanation. Any comments or advice would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you!
