Hi, I am new to this site and looking forward to learning some facts about peacock and peahen introduction. I raised Banties and Reds for several years before moving into an urban area where they were not allowed.
I am retiring and living in a rural area that has a lovely park like setting. I have a Peacock that has been living here successfully for 3 years. He is the pride of the neigborhood, but he spends time during the breeding season calling for a mate. I have found a couple breeders near me that I’m looking into getting a peahen from. Or I am looking for anyone who would like to thin their bevy and give this handsome bird a mate to share his oasis with.
I would appreciate any advice or feedback about introducing cocks and hens as well as what to be aware of when choosing a hen and a breeder.
Thank you,

I guess it never hurts to ask. Hens are a very highly desired commodity especially this time of year. This is the beginning of breeding season and everyone is looking for a hen, even a plain ol IB breeding aged hen is going to bring a couple of hundred dollars. You might find a yearling for half that but not likely. Then there is shipping which will double the cost. I recommend watching your local Craigs List for a cheap bird if there is such a thing. If you can not find a suitable hen locally visit Spring Creek Peafowl on Facebook.
