Hi all, I found this sweet little indian/noisy minor lying on the ground after discovering its dead mum. I have no idea how old it is, how long it had been there for but I scooped it up and carried it home. Does anyone know how I can save this little guy and what I can feed him? I have put a warm heat pack underneath the box he is in to keep him warm.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Kindest Regards,
ChickenLoverTrin

I have no experience with this particular type of baby. However, I have tried -- sometimes without success -- to help fledgling robins that have fallen out of their nests.

A rehabber told me that very young birds need near-constant feeding of live food. Two weeks ago, I dug up earthworms every couple of hours and fed a baby robin with tweezers. However, it was older than your rescue and was able to leave on its own after a couple of days.

Best wishes with saving this baby!

That is wonderful that you are trying to save it😊
Do you have any wildlife rescue groups near you? They would be best equipped to take care of the baby. My understanding is that young birds without feathers need to be fed every 15-20 minutes. I have not raised any wild birds myself as it is illegal to take care of baby wildlife in my area, but we have quite a few rescue groups. If you don't have anyone to take it to, I would still try to contact as local a group as possible so they can advise you on what and how to feed it. Good luck!!

Thankyou so much!! Tomorrow I will attempt to dig up some worms. Do you think because of the age of the birdie, do you think I should squish them up?

Thankyou kindly, and I don't believe that there are any near me that I can get to. Do you believe that I would also have to feed it during the night? Thankyou for the tips!

I didn't squish the worms. I just held them by one end and kind of dropped the worms, one by one, into the baby's open mouth. They would kind of slide down into its throat.

It would immediately open its mouth again to let me know it wanted more, more, more. I didn't feed it during the night as I don't think the parents did. But, again, I'm far from an expert.

I have called either the county conservation office or the DNR to get the name of a rehabber who lived close when I found baby rabbits. Do you have any similar offices? No close rescue groups here, either.

Thanks for that! I've emailed the wildlife sanctuary of my state that I live in and hopefully they get back to me ASAP!

How is the baby doing today?
I don't think you need to feed at night, google says most birds eat sunrise to sunset🙂
The little bae is going good! It's eating well and has started to chirp a tiny amount when it feels I'm near. It's been 30 hours of keeping it warm and feeding it, so hopefully it can stay strong and make it through another night!! :) Thank you for all your help!
