Hi all, need some help maybe urgently. I have 6 of my own runner duck eggs in my incubator and they were due to hatch yesterday. I have internal pip on 4 of them. My problem is 1 of them has been working hard on trying to externally pip for over 24hrs now but still no sign at all of a hole or even any cracking on the shell. My humidity is being kept at 70%+ by a tray of warm water and I'm regularly spraying the eggs with warm water to keep humidity up. Am really worried about the little one that trying to externally pip as he's been trying for so long.
Should I be helping him at this point???

It's not unusual for ducklings to take 24 ours or longer to pip externally. If you are sure it's not going to make progress and may be in trouble (hard too judge, I know!) you can make a little hole in the shell right at the end of the egg where the duckling's pipped, so it can get some fresh air. Then leave it again. If it hasn't made progress after another 24-30 hours from there it may need a bit more help.
