Indian runner ignoring duckling

I have posted a couple times but am new to byc and dont know how to find my original post. I will try to summarize my problem so far. I had two mama's laying on the same clutch (they both laid in the same nest) but after my original post decided the best thing was to remove one mom after yesterday finding a newly hatched duckling dead (I think it was trampled). Another hatched today and the Mamma that I left with the nest continued to lay on the eggs and a previous poster suggested I move the newly hatched in with the other mom that I removed. ( the clutches of eggs are about a week apart, which is basically causing all the trouble) After having the hatchling in with the removed mama for a better part of today I'm concerned because the mom seems to be indifferent to the baby. She walks and steps on her and knocks the baby out of her way to get to her food and water. Is this normal and should I leave them be? Thanks for all of your help!
