I have 3 rescues, all as very young ducklings, who are now around 11 months old. Indian runners, 1 drake and 2 ladies. I am bringing in some young'ns next month (more runners) but was wondering one thing.
Why don't the girls lay eggs?
I live outside of Boston if that helps.
They are actually now all 3 sleeping inside the chicken coop since it got real cold here.
I have watched them mate, which btw is absolutely hilarious, but was wondering why neither female has ever laid an egg.
I would love to have one hatch a little group someday.
Thanks
Curt

My runners started laying around 5 or 6 months old. I don't know if yours will wait until spring to start laying now. My runners are very good layers I'm still getting eggs even tho it's the middle of winter. I know your anxious to get that first egg when they start laying you will be over run with eggs. Don't forget to provide with a layer food and oyster shell.
