I have been getting a few indian runner duck eggs. I gave my brother 6 the other day, he was wanting to bake some cakes with them to see how much better the duck eggs were for baking. Who else is getting duck eggs now ?

I am jealous. Sigh. You are so lucky!!!!
But hopefully the IR eggs I got (crested) will hatch around the 19th/20th and then I can be on my way to raising some for eggs.

We're up to our eyeballs in duck eggs here (4 indoor runner ducks laying). I just cleaned out all the duck pens yesterday and we have about 30 eggs sitting on the kitchen counter. We need to find another way to get rid of them (other than tossing them out). I'd die of a heart attack eating that many eggs and the friend we give them to can't use the fast enough either. My family is creeped out by the thought of eating the eggs (but they love the muffins I make with the duck eggs - they just don't know I use duck eggs. hehehe) so I can't get rid of them that way.

I have got 5 eggs in the frig now. I want to use them in cakes, it will be my first time using duck eggs for baking. I hear they are the best for baking. I actually have 2 pen with IR's, 1 pen I incubate the eggs and the other pen has a duck that I do not want to hatch from, but also has a pair of nice white IRs, so I have been putting those eggs in the frig to use for cooking. I need to sell the pet quality duck or at least get her out of that pen. Hope your eggs hatch !

I have three runner hens and one buff, I've been getting three eggs a day for a while and today I got four so I guess they're all laying now. My muscovy hasn't even thought about laying yet. I'm having the same problem of too many eggs. You can only give so many to neighbors and friends and we have cake coming out our ears. They make really good bread too!

My Cocoa is laying now!

I love making sunnyside up egg sandwhiches with them. Mmmmm My hubby can't come to eat them yet. So it is just me and the kids loving them. I have been collecting them so I can put them under her and see if she will go broody.

She is a swedish mix.
