INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

Walmart has Heinz with the mother in it. I've been fermenting grain for a month or so. Some o f mine like it and some don't so much. Glad to give them the extra protein for winter. It's not hard to do but I probably won't mess with it in the summer. I've been enjoying everybody's posts. Brad- I have Millie's ordered, and would love to see pics of yours to compare with mine when they come. I've never ordere from a hatchery! And I love my adult Millie's!

I made a tote bag from a cheaper feed bag. I have to say the bag is much harder than fabric to work with. The bag looks OK but there is room for improvement. And I must say $5 is a great value considering the time put into it.

Soooo I joined the fad of the nipple waterers. Made a cool pvc watering system to replace my 1 gallon TSC waterer. I have kept my 10 week old chickens confined to the coop until they roost on their own and the sand bedding is sooooo wet from them playing. I swear they peck at the nipples for entertainment! I need to hang a cabbage from the ceiling to entertain them or something. anyone else use the nipples? They don't drip on their own...the soaked floor is just from the girls pecking..also does anyone keep water in the coop. I've heard of some that keep the water supply strictly outside to prevent excess moisture in the coop...opinions?! will post pics in the morning when it's light out.

They get easier/quicker to make with practice! I have a lot of time-saving tips that I will post when I next haul out the sewing machine. My girl has missed school for nearly a month and went back today.

Maybe you could put something directly under the waterer to catch the drips.

I use nipples in bucket waterers hung outside in the runs during the warm months.

For the last two winters I have used a 1.5 gallon heated bowl set in the intersection of 4 pens so that 4 breeding groups could use it. (it took a little planning in the construction of the walls, but sure beats having heated bowls for each pen).

I just ordered some waterers last weekend. I am anxious to try them. Mine seem to get so much " stuff" in any kind of waterer I have out. I do have water in the coup but they rarely drink it.
