Well I think my favorite light colored chick is splash. She definitely isn't white. I just love her. She needs a name though.

kabhyper~ IMO-- She looks full of "Moxie."
EmSteele~ I haven't heard of hens beating up roosters, but I can imagine that happening. Have you gotten any eggs yet? It seems like the last time you posted, you were still waiting.
I dont know if this is a myth or not But supposdley pumpkin seeds is a natural wormer, i guess thiat is what farmers used to do in the olden days
CCCHICKENS~ For some reason, my hens don't like pumpkin or pumpkin seeds. I even bought some organic roasted, unsalted ones, but they weren't interested. I thought that maybe they were too big and hard, so I chopped them up, but still no takers.

Delawaremommy posted: I think I will place my order with Meyers in Feb instead of April and get a Splash Maran, a New Hampshire Red, a Dominique and a surprise. My silly mother has already named them Lulu, Dottie, Stripes, and Orange. Guess which name goes with which bird?

I'll get more Delawares (10 or so) too if we can get our house sold and get moved to property. Otherwise I have to hold at 8 due to space.

Delawaremommy~ Haha! Your mom's name choices remind me of the literal interpretations I used naming my hens-- for example, Lacey for a GLW and Jersey for JG. I had to come up with names in a hurry, though-- that's my excuse anyway! Btw, congrats on your two new layers!

pipd~ Congrats on your layers, too! And is your broody one the GLW Garfield hen? Sorry to hear about Chickie. I hope my hens have a good long life like Chickie's.

I dont know if they are actually thinking about doing this but I came across this article online and thought I would share. It is terrible, I cant believe they would do this, some animals are treated so horribly.

Some may not want to read this

Anyone know where to find those little cardboard slip things you put between cages at shows, so that roosters wont try and fight between the cages. I was thinking you could buy them precut. I dont even know what they are actually called.

Re Goshawk video: Oh great, MORE predators to worry about!

I hadn't heard of Goshawks either, and when I looked them up I found around 30 types! However, the Northern Goshawk is the common one. I love their patterns. This is a picture of a juvenile one.

Condors, North America's largest land birds, were recently in the news. California's first live-streaming solar powered condor camera just went live last week:

They look scary! Nice scarf around its neck, though.

I saw some cages that had thick plastic that looked very much like a high chair drp cloth between them. Then others that had larger cutting board plastic style separators. I'm thinking the fancy ones were plexiglass from lowes
