INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

LOL! Part of starting up my Facebook pages was to be done with eBay. People crack me up. I guess it's my fault that her eggs got "frozen" ever though she decided to buy them during freezing temps! Offered to reship if she paid shipping. She declined and filed a claim and left negative feedback. We will see what PayPal decides on who gets the money. According to buyer, if you write "Do Not Freeze" on the package the USPS will ship your package in an climate controlled environment! Except if you call them (and wait over 2 hrs on hold) you will find out this is not the case and they don't have special handling for freezable items. Some people! I don't think the stress is worth it to sell on eBay. I guess I'll use BYC and Facebook from now on!
Its those types that haven't looked into the risk of shipped eggs that ruin it for the rest of us.
I don't blame you, seen some ridiculous, hurtful feedback posted to some really good breeders.
Don't let it get to you, WE know you are extremely careful on your shipping and packaging.

I definitely don't let it get to me, just frustrating how eBay works. I wish I could fight the negative feedback especially if paypal sides with me.

Guys, Anyone have recommendations? I will be shopping for a food vacuum sealer soon, looking into brands, options etc.
Noticing some of the cuts left from our hog are freezer burnt, mostly the soup bones.
Also a large scale band style meat saw, we are working out our list for home processing next year.

I second the FoodSaver! I just pitched some veggies that had been in the freezer for 2.5 years. NO freezer burn just mushy when thawed. Chickies gobbled them up :)

How long was your hog in the freezer? They typically don't keep much longer than a year no matter how they're packaged in my experience.

LOL so cute! Butters loved the baths, and would fall asleep with the blowdryer. He was always getting messy feet and his head was forever getting FF all over it.
When he became a house chicken the few months before he passed, he still had a bath on occasion. Really miss him.
Sounds like my first silkie "Bonk". He was a house pet for a while too. He had sustained several head injuries so he was "special". When he was just two weeks old my husband accidentally dropped the house phone into the brooder and onto his head. I screamed "that was my favorite!"...should have seen his face. But the little booger made it. When he was about three months old a nasty red hen sneaked up on us and buried her beak in his head - really stabbed him. He just crumbled and I held him and cried thinking that was it. He pulled through. He matured into a handsome bird, but never fully matured. He never bred a girl and I was afraid he was going to get hurt by the breeding cock, so I pet placed him and some girls to a lady that just wanted some pretty lawn ornaments. I still miss that guy. Here he is:

Oh but I love the boys at that age!

Here with his GSD buddy.

Almost grown up.

ChisNchickens ~ Are you recommending that bradselig not bathing/drying his silkies in the winter because of switching temps from outdoors to indoors? I believe from what I've read on this thread that silkies are more susceptible to temp changes, etc. that other breeds-- not sure if that's correct. I'm just curious.
I try to wait until spring, bathing is stressful and it strips the natural oils making them more susceptible to cold.

Ohh he is beautiful!

Here's photo for everyone's holiday cheer:
cute:)

Quote: Lots of mud here too. It was not too bad until the ducks made it out into the small run. I think they made more and more mud as the day went on, and it was mainly under the covered part of the run. And to think I had planned to move them to the larger run, no way do I want that entire thing turning to mud. DH and I were out spreading wood chips down in the small run until dark. I'm sure we will be doing more wood chip spreading as the mud spreads, I have already picked out the next two - three spots. I'm putting seed down right before the chips in hopes of preventing a muddy spring. Last year we did the seeding in early spring and covered with straw. The wild birds ate most of the seed. I'm hoping that by seeding in the winter with a wood chip covering the seeds won't get eaten.

Sorry about your ebay selling. The negative feedback and the buyer is always right keeps me from selling anything on ebay. That same policy encourages me to buy though.

Haha. Yes from a buyers stand point, you can't go wrong buying from eBay! After I submitted my side of the transaction, I had to call paypal to make sure it went through because I could see it on the dispute. The lady said she wasn't exactly sure why I couldn't see it, but maybe because it was so long lol. I explained everything. But she said it was on there so we'll see what they say.
