INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

Does anyone other than Brad have any fertile Coturnix quail eggs for sale that are unrelated to Brads? I will need to buy a few dozen unrelated eggs to add the second bloodline for my males.
I am trying to get some on ebay that promise 16 oz birds.
Mine are a mix from brads and a few other breeders.
We are both working towards the Tank size!

ahem, ladies room.
Just keep an eye on her I suppose but I don't know what could be wrong. Maybe she is just being mean and ornery?

oh she is mean and ornery alright.... she finally went to the " ladies room " last night... lol so at least I know she isn't bound up.
How is your girl doing?
I have not had a very good run of it this winter... went out to collect eggs for the last time and put the girls to bed last night and had a dead hen. tried to water the horses and had a busted water pipe!!!!!! Really??? we make it through - temps and they freeze at 20????? wtheck!!!!! I was out in the cold till 11:47 from 5pm . Sorry Chick Craze that's why I never got back with you last night.
I was so upset last night If it weren't for for stark-craving mad with out, them I would have just gave everything away and become a city slicker!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Too fast- I got some plastic snap traps I like better. Ck a hardware store for them. They are super easy to set and I am not having them get the food without being caught. You just pinch the lever back and it snaps to lock open. One brand was black and another bran was white, get the white if they have them!!!

Brad- you might look at an electrical supply place for the ties( Kirby Risk). I used to use them when I built electric control boxes.
Thanks, I have a couple of those, they are easy to set, but sometimes they trip when I set them down. Easy to get rid of the vermin, also!

Ooh, that car port coop is cool! I am planning on doing a shed or maybe even building a pallet coop this year!
We built a pallet coop, came out great.

The car port coop is great looking, very easy to get into and a lot of room!

I was coming in from feeding animals last night, and had three eggs clutched in my hand. I hit the frozen ice moat around my barn and started doing a road runner on the ice, then pitched to the right and almost went down. I rallied and managed to stay upright and did not tighten my hand and break a single egg during the whole debacle! For the win! Also I am really sick of winter. From Snowpocolypse to mud and flooding, to ice, now back to snow on top. I'm ready for Spring!

I have a question. I now have a very broody turkey so I decided to let her sit on eggs. She only has 3 to incubate because I sold the others lol. Now I want to put some chicken eggs under her so we have a better hatch for her time. Should I put them under her now or wait a week so they hatch at the same time? Also can I put duck eggs under her?

Applause to you!

With a broody hen, you definitely want all the eggs to hatch around the same time. She will not sit on a nest for more than a couple days when she has active chicks to care for. I know of people who have hatched chicks with turkey hens, but I don't know if anyone has tried with ducks.

I have been wondering about if any of you who do process chicken can freeze it and sell it to someone like me or CRSelvey who'd like to know where it came from?
Or is that against the law?
We don't sell processed chicken. But we are willing to "help" process your chickens and you go home with a cooler full of roosters / older hens you raised. How much help you provide is up to you. Sometimes helping coral the 3 toddlers /young children and keeping them in the house or on the play set is the hardest part and requires the most help.

Ugh deleted quotes and typing twice!!

Timmons feed in Lebanon is where I have my cattle feed mixed. They are very friendly and helpful! I've not had them mix chicken feed for me but I have bought prebagged feed from them. It was Heinold brand out of Kouts IN. I think it was about the same price as rural king or tsc.

Brad- I store my cattle feed in plastic 55 gal drums. They hold about 250-300# each if you dump the feed out of the bag, so you would need 4 for 1000#.

I think there was more but I can't remember at the moment. :)
