INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

Well i think i need to build another incubator. My little giant is bout shot i think. I have cochin eggs, silkie, modern in it now. After only 4 days i see alot if veing which is good but my temp fluctuates alot it goes from 96 to 100. BUT the thing is my thermostat is turned all the way up. Oh and i have 2 thermometers in it and they are pretty much reading the same thing. Im just thinking maybe i need to fire up my cabinet incubator and transfer them to it. But it's not set up for hatching i only use it for incubating. My little giant is mainly used for hatching because it holds higher humidity longer. This is so frustrating right now. And the incubation is going so well surprisingly.

Just t let everyone know, daughter is home and regaining her strength quickly! Results are good so far, but she's not able to eat solid food at all and the doctor said she has a severe case of Siliacs disease and is lactose intolerant. So she's allergic to ALL wheat products and dairy. Vegetables and fruit irritates the bowel and red meat blocks the bowel... So what's th poor girl supposed t eat?
Glad to hear she is doing better. That basically takes away all food. What is she suppose to eat?

We have one my MIL's chicks out of the egg! Its an ee x slw. I looked at them last night and saw an internal pip. The one that hatched was not that egg, so I quickly candled it, and it looks like its feet are in the air cell and it was breathing hard. What does that mean? No external pips though. Maybeim worrying to much.Ashes is a first timer but seems to be doing okay so far. She is so tiny aand has 7 lf eggs under her. I hope she is able to keep hatching humidity levels high enough with allof those eggs.
That is odd, it may be upside down. I think Ashes will do just fine tho, and if she didn't push the egg away, the chick may do just fine.

Quote: LOL, I get a lot of eyerolls from DHs family, except for his parents. His Dad is awesome, and is really interested to talk chicken! Mom isn't as interested but she sure enjoyed the processed birds we brought out. And the whole group really loved the fresh eggs last summer too!

The first egg was a little bloody, so I suspect it was from my embden hens. I have my doubts the egg is fertile, but gonna set it and see. Have several pekin eggs in the bator. Will be candling tonight to see whats growing in there! Whenever everyone goes to bed that is....

Mine don't understand half if the stuff I am talking about and probably don't care lol. My dad at least try's to understand. But I love gettih in here or going to a show and talking chicken. My dad says he likes to listen to my conversations at shows. Says I talk way too fast and he only knows about two of the things I say, but is interesting. Lol. No one has had processed birds yet, but I think my grandma will appreciate those. Forever some of them wouldn't eat the eggs because they said they were gross. But they love them now!
