Whats helped me is to have a fresh tub of hot water with a sponge ready, get the dry chicks out and put that bowl in.
Then I cover the bator with a towel a few minutes to help bring humidity back up quick.
So far, I am finally not having any more shrink wrapped babies
the geese will be the real test, I have about 10 eggs in the bator already.
Last year I did not have a single unassisted hatch with the geese. What a pain!
So glad to hear he is ok! Check with bradselig, he sometimes will have chicks that aren't the color he is working towards etc.and they are gorgeous birds.
kabhyper1 also breeds them and has some beautiful babies as well!
Yesterday we gathered 7 eggs! I was SO happy that everyone got extra treats! Apparently, my girls LOVED the extras and didn't want them to stop coming because they layed 11 EGGS today!! and one is blue! I believe it came from my tailless EE! I'm gathering all of the scraps and extra veggies I can find for them as I type!
I think spring is finally here! My BR turkey (oldest hen only) and the geese are all laying like mad! pretty happy about that
