I know the comb is red but it's not wide, and it was picked on some so the feathers are ragged but I don't see any saddle or hackle feathers.

I mean I might be able to keep it if it's a roo but probably not :/

Full body pic and age will help

I'm honestly not sure how old it is. I got it from sally. I think it's 8-12 weeks but I know that's a wide range
The pattern could go either way. It is sort of patchy, but it could also just be a gangly stage and be a pattern. At this point I am leaning towards cockerel, but I would say their is still a chance that it could surprise you and be a pullet.

Yeah that's pretty much what I guessed
Probably 70% chance cockerel and 30% pullet?

9 fuzz but's in the brooder!!! One chick was having a hard time getting out. I helped it out. It was really dry from being peeped and not getting out. It's a strong willed little chick. It's out and still moving around hopefully it pulls trough!! Happy Easter everyone!
Holy cow! I think those rir/ slw are sexlinked! I know when you have a RIR roo crossed with a laced hen you get cinnamon queens. As far as a slw roo x rir hen goes, we have only hatched one before. That is pretty cool that they could be sex linked. So here are a few pics of what your chicks will look like as adults. I know you have seen most of them and you have Cricket, so you probably already have a pretty good idea.
SLW x MInorca (all black)

Slw x EE

Slw x rir (same pullet both pics)

Thanks for having us over last night. We had a nice time. It did take about two hours to warm up when we got home though. It got cold! lol

Unless those shoulders get redder, I would say pullet. Although the comb is red, it is small. I think it's body type looks pretty girly also. If you part the feathers on its back right before the tail, at this age you should be seeing pointy shiny feathers starting to come in if its a boy. CCCChickens knows more than I do, but that was just my experience with my boys. By 8 weeks or so they had definite hackles and saddles coming in.

Thanks for the eggs Kab! Pretty birds they will be! That last one did not make it. It held on a lot longer than I thought very strong willed bird!! Still got 3 eggs left that haven't had any action yet, I'm going to wait it out with them, fingers crossed.
