Wow!that was quite a storm! Looked out my window to see my lawn roller rolling across the lawn! I guess I drained it a day too early! The rain was coming from the south, so it was pouring in my back sliding patio door! Never had that happen. Guess I need to look into a new door or sealing it better. Glad it has stopped for now, but looks like it's going to be off and on for the next couple days!

Wow! I got snow in my room this year. It blew just right and somehow got in, beats me. It just started here. I am not a fan of storms and most certaintley do not like rain. Looks like it will be a long week then lol.

Hi to all my new Indiana friends. I just got several new chickens this weekend and was wondering if you guys could help tell me what some of them are. I would appreciate any help. Thanks This is Pricilla, she came with a polish rooster and she lays white eggs. I was hoping she was also a polish, but her comb is not V shaped and her puff on top of her head isn't anything near what the roo's is. She's also very small. This is peanut butter, he is a bantum roo, but not sure what kind? This is Merida and Madilyn they are about a week old, have no idea what they are? My other Bantum roo. White leghorn? But he has a rose comb. Any info can help. I am wanting to mate some of them with others of the same breed to get as close to pure as I can. Thanks

They are all beautiful, but in my opinion they all look like barnyard mixes. The last one may be a rose comb, but still doesn't look pure. The chicks I don't have any idea. Would need to be fully feathered before I'd take a guess.

It didn't last long, but I had to walk through 2" or so of rain pooling on the ground as it was coming down faster than the ground could soak it up!

I agree. I would have to say he is a mix also, he doesn't look like my Rosecombs

Ok New to the Group and new to being a "chicken mama". Have 4 Australorps and 9 Easter Eggers. Live in town and are allowed only hens, but low and behold, after we moved the 6 week old "ladies" outside, SOMEbody crowed... not once, not twice, but 3 times.. the last 2 I asked him to do it again, and he did... So now Chicken Noodle needs to find a home. A few chicken friends said "sure bring him over, he will be good in a pot." and city girl, animal lover that I am, I can't do that.... Ugh....hoping to find him a home here soon...

I will have a couple questions here in a bit ... trying to find some things out on my own.... that's sorta how I learn best

H, neighbors! I'm Laura and I live in Porter, IN. When DH and I bought a house here, we had plenty of friends already living here and a few of them also had chickens. I was told we could keep up to 6. So I got 6 . But now I've learned that isn't exactly true . And, of course, aside from the money we put into them and their awesome accommodations - we love these birds! I love them. So I'm trying to get the town ordinance changed. Our next council meeting is in a couple days, so... Wish me luck!

Ok...I'm considering ordering a couple more babies from chickenhill. If anyone wants to go in on an order with me, please pm me. I ended up missing a bunch of people saying they were interested cause the forum moves so fast.


She has wyandottes, orps and blue partridge brahmas. She's really awesome and her prices are pretty great. Having another person or 2 to Co op with me would help tons. She also offers pullets so if someone wants to just go in on a pullet order with me that would work too. Her nicer pullets are obviously more expensive. I'm thinking about getting a couple more blue partridge brahmas and blrw and then maybe a choc or blue wyandotte bantie.
