INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

Here is a nice funny story for you all.

I have roosters and can easily tell them from my hens when they are mature, most times when they are 2 months old or even less on the tall comb breeds.  But the same is no where near true for my ducks apparently.

I thought I noticed a fertile egg here and there from the duck pen for the last two weeks.  But I thought it was me and I was just seeing things.  But today I mad scrambled eggs from the last 4 days of duck eggs.  They were all clearly fertil.  I still haven't a clue which of our ducks is a male.  I have not seen a single duck getting mated for months.  And roosters while they will mate a duck don't produce fertile duck eggs.

uh oh... And to think I got two hens from you....hmm lol

Thank you very much! He's still kicking today and we found an avian vet nearby so we have an appointment for him tomorrow. I just hopes he makes it to tomorrow because he really isn't drinking much.
Did he make it through the night? I'm interested in what the vet says. I noticed one of my cream legbar hens has an injury to her eye. Presumably from a peck from the boss. Thankfully, she still has her eye and still seems to be able to see. It just looks like she went a few rounds with the champ and needs to come back to her corner for awhile and rest.

Hi all! Sorry for my "newbie" post haha, I am not familiar with how this works or chickens in fact!! But my parents have several chickens and they are looking for a Golden Sebright. So I am helping with their mission. I'm hoping I can find someone I can pick one up from this week. I live in central Indiana but will be traveling north on 31 on Wed. and on Thursday traveling down to Madison, IN, so if you are near my travel path and have one for sale, I'm your buyer :) Or if anyone knows someone that I can contact, any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank You so much!

Hi, Skgallienne.
On post #28949, lilmizscareall said she had a golden sebright roo. If you're interested, I'd suggest you PM her.
I keep threatening to put together a pizza night for those of us BYCr's in & near Indianapolis. If you're interested, I'll keep you on my radar.

Go USA! (World cup)

We've been fostering 2 chihuahuas for quite some time. One is as sweet as pie and the other would like to bite my face off.

The mean one we've had since the fall, when his mom got sick and the sweet one we got this spring when her mom had to go into rehab after an injury. We're saying goodbye to the sweet one this week. It's bittersweet, but I'm really glad she gets to go back home with her mom.
(Why couldn't the MEAN one go back first?!)

Has anyone elses egg production dropped off in this heat?I have 13 layers and only got 4 eggs yesterday.

Mine hasn't been great the last couple of weeks but I have two new layers so the last few days I feel like I'm rolling in eggs (3 per day lol).
