Hi all, sorry I've been MIA - August is always a really CRAZY month for us.

State fair starts this week - hoping to go, just not sure what this week holds (hubby is having surgery soon, don't know when!)

Monday in the Indianapolis Star you can get coupons for free admittance on Wed.

and Tuesdays are $2 Tuesdays again.

Here is a link with all the special days.

If we make it, we will wear our shirts and hopefully see some of you there!
We are going the 14th. My brother is the head of a robotics club and they were asked by the state legislature to do a demonstration.

It's doubtful that she injured it by getting it caught, but thanks for commenting. The yucky Rooster Booster keeps the area looking wet. I can see her ear plainly because the feathers are missing in the area around it. She keeps scratching it and has one bright red toe nail. I've checked her over and haven't seen mites or anything. I'll probably take her to my veterinarian on Monday if it doesn't improve.[/COLOR]

M2H - I know this is late coming but I figured someone else might hav given advice as how t treat th poor girl. You know I'm not as experienced as others so I'll put this in the form of a question...couldn't this b the sign of an ear infection? Whenever my kids had earaches they pulled on their ears all th time, seems t me that this is the chicken equivalent. To keep her from scratching her poor head completely off you could try trimming toe nails then wrapping cottonballs on her feet with sport tape or possibly making a cone collar (like they hav for dogs) so she can't reach her ears. I know this all sounds odd but maybe it would help?

I've missed seeing you on here for a while ( I think). Hope all is well. I wanted t let you know that of the eggs that I had hatch (6 I believe), I still have two birds. Unfortunately I think they are both Roos. One is for sure he's bn crowing for a week n a half. The other has a smaller comb and wattle but they are bright red and I'm not getting any dark brwn eggs in my basket. So I'm thinking it might also b a he. I sure hope not though! They are both sweet birds but my little flock does not need 7 roosters! Wish they were both pullets! They hav the pullet coloring but since Mandy has crowed he is beginning t change coloring. Long dark copper on head and saddle but still has lots of black too. I hav given up trying t incubate eggs, I hav no luck with it and get sooo disappointed and frustrated when they either don't hatch or die within hours of hatching. If my broody Diamond doesn't hatch em for me they aren't going t get hatched! Hope you find a home for your boy. I thought I found one for Mandy but they were a no-show today.

I can't remember is I posted this or not.

I will be at the state fair the 5th, 7th, 8th, 11th, and 13th for sure. And probably the 12th but I don't know about that one for sure. I will be in the Poultry building frequently.

@LonelyPageTurne
  was looking for a rooster.  If not her maybe @jchny2000

Thanks! Hopefully they see it and are interested. I sold his dad and he was a big boy ..I do love them but I just don't focus on them and they mess up the dynamics of my goals. I have a trio..Perhaps I should just suck it up and get to work on a separate pen for them. I free range them all so it makes it hard for me to pen anyone. . I sell my laying flock eggs though and the girls are good layers or else I'd offer up the trio. Hmmm
