INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

They piped on the 20th day and hatched during the 21st I left Em in for 12 hours while all their siblings hatched then put them in the brooder and after that I found one more pip and got another chicken

many people pull the turner and some then stand the eggs in old cartons to hatch. I have always thought of leaving them in the turner but of course there were those warning lables. Now I have a different incubator and leaving the eggs in the turners is a very bad idea as the chicks could fall up to 2 ft to the hatching draw from the top turning rack.

Next for Most breeds chicks this time of year are really really hard to get moved outside the house. If you set eggs now, it will be the end of October when they hatch, the end of November to mid Dec when they get fully feathered. And yet another 2-4 weeks before they are fat enough to stay warm in a coop covered in snow without needing heat. I have had fall chicks twice. The first time I got them in September and we had a very mild winter that year. All was well. Then last year I got them in October and again in January right before an artic blast. It felt like I would never get them outside.
I might not even participate in the New years Hatch alongs for 2015 as it can be so early and the chicks just don't grow as fast if they are chilled.

I left mine in the egg turner and they hatched fine however I did turn the egg turner off one chick got stuck head down but I pulled her out and she was fine she even still had her umbilical cord still attached and survived right now their brooder us inside and I've got a good insulated shead to put them in I used little giant brand incubator and egg turner big fan 6 out of 8 hatchdd

Not sure if this is the right place to post this or not but I am looking for some polish chicks. My daughter is begging for one for her birthday. I would also take some frizzled chicks, too, if anyone has any. I'm near Rochester but would consider driving to pick them up if I needed to. If anyone has either, please let me know! Thanks!
