INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

Well, we rehomed 13 birds last weekend. 2 pairs of geese, 9 mixed bantams from a surprise broody hatch last fall. I have some adult guinea to go yet, and will be happy where we are on flocks. Little nervous to only have 10 geese, but I narrowed it down to 2 trios of chinese, whites and browns. 1 quad of Embden.
Anxiously awaiting candling my turkey eggs! Getting lots of BR, and the Midget Whites are picking up on laying. List is growing fast for poults. May have to do a 2nd BR pen if my hens will hatch me another tom!

I have 2 cream legbar young roosters available. They are not breeder quality. One holds his tail to one side and the other has a crooked toe. If anyone is interested, please message me to work out the details. These were hatched early to mid January. They are currently free ranged during the day and cooped at night with the other non breeding roosters.
I also have dual purpose roosters in that group if anyone wants to buy a few to finish raising for their table.

Today starts the incubation of a different type of egg! My female crestie has started laying again!

Went to RK in Shelbyville between classes today to return a turkey poult which had passed... and they were out of turkeys but had some super cute bantams! So I picked up both silkies (look like they're buff) and the only mille fleur D'uccle they had.

RK in Martinsville has Wellies again! Picked up two "pullets" so we'll see if they both turn into roosters, given my luck this year. I'm hoping for a breeding quad of them next spring, given all the BYCers who can't seem to get a hold of them this year.

Here's one of the older bronze poults who just had to say hi to everyone!

These are of the 'big brooder' (aka a giant dog crate with blankets and heavy duty plastic) full of older chicks and week-old-or-sos.

Hello Everyone! @chickgirl12 asked if I am still making avatars. Yes! I am happy to help. Here's the info:

Avatars with Indiana County Map

If anyone would like an Indiana map with your county highlighted to add to your avatar or an avatar created with your county and a chicken, please PM @Mother2Hens (Julie). While reading members’ posts, it’s helpful to glance at their avatars to see what part of the state they’re from. These avatars are not required—they are a free service if you’re interested. Avatar updates (new chicken, new season, etc.) are also free.
