INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

Haven't been on here in awhile and am way behind on posts, but I wanted to let everyone know that Minmin1258 (Cindy) is having some pretty serious health issues right now and could you use all of your thoughts and prayers. They will be very much appreciated.
Prayers being sent. How did the hatch turn out?

Impatiently waiting on my Lavender orps to finish molt. Most of the geese and adult ducks are molting also, and a few of my turkeys. Saw so many feathers today I started counting heads, worrying we had a predator attack. Still getting EE eggs, good girls. Except for the duck hens, looks like the current broody spell has finally passed. Now if the turkeys would get back to laying, I'll be happy.
Is it normal for a hen with a chick to molt? Or do ya think something else is going on? My foster hen is leaving little white feathers everyplace. o and sh is laying again already.
Don't forget me your Lavender orps start lying again.

Last night the heat lamp exploded and killed the little EE that @Bawk gave me. She was getting so big and adorable. Poor little buff Orp is lost without her sissy.

Went ahead and gave all the bitties a bath today after burying the little EE. They're not happy with me, but it was needed because they were filthy birdies.
Sorry to here about your EE

. I hate lamps they worry me to death, but that's all my budget allows, maybe some day I can get a plate.

I have heard my turkey hens make a high pitched clicking noise, its usually when geese or herons fly over.
Interesting.. I have a 3 year old EE roo that climbs into a nest box before his girls get into it. He adjusts the hay, singing and talking the entire time. Sits down like he will lay an egg! Hen is standing there, patiently waiting and talking back. Then he will hop out, and in goes his hen! If something doesn't suit him, he makes a growl noise and tries a different box and repeats the whole ritual. He has 6 hens, and does this for every girl, pretty fascinating! He is what I call a "good rooster", feeds his hens instead of gobbling up goodies himself, non aggressive to humans, and protects his girls from the younger roosters that free range. So far, all his sons have been very good boys also.
P.Rock does that too, I was thinking it was just because he is young.

My only gosling that hatched this year.. She has become a real sweetheart. 4 weeks old now, and will be going to live at DDs house soon. (IF I can give her up, lol!) 2nd try going outdoors for a while. Today went much better! Just adore this little girl.

Big stretch, enjoying the warm sun!

Back to moms feet to check in.

I'm a big girl now!

Sorry I am terrible at picture taking, lol.
very cute and you take better pic's than I do.... course my camera is about dead, the flash don't even work half the time and sometimes the pic's are red???? don't know what that is all about.

Well I have lost all 19 of my silkie chicks. Guess it is just not meant to be, have 1 left, looks like a Lt. Brahma???
Called my vet today and he wants to look at the body, wont be burring this one with the rest but at least I will find out for sure what the heck is going on!!!

Got the goat kids play pen built, they have shade shelter ( in case it rains and I don't know it .. its happened ) and all kinds of things to play on. First year I have had this many kids on the place, they are normally all billy born here and I sell them, this year I have does... course half of them were not born here but still does. So they needed a place to call their own.

Got a goat problem and don't want to go to vet with it unless I have to ... he is dealing with chicken with me right now. Anyway, all my goats are looking bad, except the kids, Billys and does, they are getting real skinny, they have good hay, turned out on pasture in the day time, they have a goat lick and all the daily fresh water they can drink. I have wormed them 2x this year the last time being in June. I switch form Ivermecton to a 3 way combo deal the vet keeps me supplied with, ( 1 ienbendazole pyrantel .. the label is wore so that's all I can read. 2 Cydeotin again hard to read it. 3 Prohib?t ) The combo is the last one I wormed with. Done of the goats are pale, the coats are soft and shinny, and all is as it should be except they are losing weight. And the hat is clover, tim and alfalfa mix, first cutting. I really am at a loss here, hope someone knows what is going on.

Well I've lost yet another couple. A hen and rooster. Different days. I have 3 of 11 d'uccles left and 6 of 13 LF chicks from Easter hatches left. Then my dog came in with bite marks. This is the best pic but you can kinda see size based on the finger width there. It looks too far apart for small mouthed animal yet too close for a dog bite. I only see 2 puncture wounds. They are pretty deep too. Any ideas?

The two sharp teeth might indicate weasels, badgers or cats. I'm not sure, and it's really hard to find this info.

So sweet! My wee pea that ended up a lone babe has imprinted on me and is very funny when I've taken him outside. I had hoped he would attach himself to our peahen and her babies but no such luck. She wouldn't mind but he has no interest in her. He's 8 weeks old now and DH says he needs to move outdoors cuz he's as big as a full grown chicken! Lol! He's not! DH also tells me "Rocky" will have a full train and I will still be saying he needs to get a little bigger before he is able to go out! Haha! He's silly! ;) Here he is trying to dustbathe on the couch!

My broody girl molts while she has the chicks. I think it goes with the hormones and the "broody fast" It's a good time since she'll be all restored by the time cold weather comes.

I think my broody is doing the same. Black feathers are all over the run. At 1st I thought she was plucking a few teen orps that got too close to her chicks, but after a few days, I realized its likely a summer molt.

Looks like I'm not meant to have BLRW this year :( or more CCL. I had 3 more dead chicks when I went out this morning and another that wasn't looking good. Maybe next year.

Also, anyone interested in a heritage RIR roo, OE roo or a jubilee Orp cockerel? If not they're going to @racinchickins for processing next weekend.
