My reply:
Ah tried to remove all the messages to respond ... Those two are Tolbunt Polish roosters, one smooth and one frizzle.

The top picture is about 3 weeks before the pictures on down, their crests keep growing. The black one was more friendly but now the crest is blocking his vision more so he has become more skittish. I hope they get along good as they mature. Right now they are friends but the black one is a little spit fire, always n the go and hangs out more with the other chickens. The one with more white does his own thing. He is calmer and when held he is more nervous (trembles) but settles down well. He just goes about his own business more and doesn't stay with the others as well. Pecks and scratches, settles down etc.
They are so beautiful !!!!

I will have to look into a new breed once we get into our new place ( when ever that will be ) Like I need more chickens... lol

Out of the last of the broody batches (hopefully!) I ended up keeping 2 bantam Cochins. 1 smooth and 1 frizzled. Then the 2 silkies from a test hatch. 13 went to their new home last night and oh how happy I am to have just these bitties (inside).
Now that they have this big cage all to themselves they are sleeping in their food dish! Lol! Love chicks!

I am down to the Scissor beck & the mystery chick in one brooder and my lone Silkie chick in another. O and I had to bring in 1 of the Silkie chicks from outside today.

Heres the deal, this chick has to come in and have her butt cleaned every other day, they are 3 weeks old now, She is so much smaller than her siblings, and she cant keep up with mom as well as the others, and mom ( she is a great mom ) just lets her lag behind. She just is not thriving as well as she should, I have her on the baby vit. Is there anything else ya'll think might help her catch back up. I put her in with the lone chick (1 week old ) for now and they are the same size.

Wow no one has posted since I last did.... got to be a record.

Yesterday evening we noticed that the Goat kids that Waddles was living with was no longer letting him sleep with them, and was pushing him out of his feed. So we built him his OWN house.I saw a coop on BYC coops ( https://www.backyardchickens.com/a/hennsington-palace ) that I thought would be easy and inexpensive to build for breeding pens next year and decided to make one of those for him. It was so simple... and it only took 1 hour to do from Start to finish ( including gathering the lumber screws and tools ) It cost us nothing, $0.00, cause we used scraps from other projects, and left over screws. DH like it so well he said he build me as many of them as I wanted him too....... O he really shouldn't have said that.. lol
Since this one was for a lone meat bird and a rooster at that, we dint hinge the side for egg collection. We didn't have any roofing left so we took a scrap piece of carport tarp and wrapped it in that, all but the front. Right now the front is completely open and we will finish that and put a vent in the back next weekend.
This was so easy I could have done it myself... Dont tell DH that, wouldn't want to bruise his ego.. lol

dont like that he is sleeping in the front, and we had to put a bench in front of it cause he kept trying to get in his old pen.

Sorry that one is on its side, it wouldn't save it when I flipped it, but that is the back.

the white in the inside is where I was cleaning paint off a brush.

I think it is big enough that I can put him a couple hens in with him, but that will have to wait toll I can find some big enough to handle him, was thinking BJG's??

We also put a Rain/Snow flap on the BA's house. Another piece of the same carport tarp.

That can be raised during the day, or I can "tent it" in bad weather in the day time.

So I've been doing pretty well in my mutt sales I've sold all 33 of my first hatch and all but 13 of my second hatch I've decided it was time to splurge a little and I bought 6 light brahmas and 6 Dominique's they are new perminant members of the flock

I'm back from my vacation got back yesterday dp (dear preggo) had to work when she got off we went shopping she wasn't to happy about the purchase but she usually gets attached around week three...
Bought a brand new car with the help of my parents because the one I bought turned out to be poo...
And I'm happy to be back on wooo
Oh and I did no research on these two breeds before buying them so any info would be nice I'm going to look them up after I get caught up in all the threads I've missed

Glad you had a good time and all is well. My BYM sell faster then anything I have, don't get it but ok... guess cause they are cheaper maybe?
As for info on your new flock members I can tell ya that we love our Lt. Brahma's, they re good with people, KIDS, and other flock members, although they wont put up with bullies... lol We get med. - Lg eggs from them I nice tan color out of 5 we get 3 eggs a day from them. I have only had 1 go broody on me in the past 4 years that we have had them, but she was hit and miss as far as sitting the whole time. They are a big heavy breed, so I guess they could be a multi purpose breed, ( not sure on that just guessing by the sz they can get. ) All in all we love them and will always have the breed here.
As far as the Dominiqe's ... cant help ya with them.
Hope ya like your new flock members.

I've gone through a few of my roosters and breeding plans for next spring. I will be selling all of my black sumatra roosters and most of my black sumatra hens. If anyone is interested in a breeding trio or quad, please message me. Otherwise I'll be selling the hens on CL and processing the roosters as soon as we can get to it.

I am ordering a few Legbar chicks from Greenfire Farm. If anyone needs pullets or baby Roos let me know. I can order extra and will have extra males.

That stupid sticking Falcon was back!!!!!!!! It tried to take a BO chick. I chased it down and made it drop the chick but it was too late, she died in my hand as I was taking it back home. This makes the 3rd chick and 2 Silkies and a MFD. I don't care what the LAW says, I see it again ( and I will ) I'm shooting it.
I kept telling DH it was a falcon killing my littles, he believes it now!!! BO is his # 2 pick breed, so he is mad now. I am building a chick pen with a TOP on it!!! I'm thinking chain link with deer netting over that, That ought to stop him.

Ok Sorry for ranting just very highly mad right now.

I would be mad to so no need to apologize and the pen sounds like a good idea I use deer netting works awesomely

one pair of turkeys or a pair of geese would help almost as much as a net. We keep a radio on all the time too. Eagles fly over our place but for the most part I don't lose birds when my turkeys are out free ranging. That said some of my turkeys flew off so that's almost as bad as losing a chicken to a hawk.
