INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

I finally got a decent picture of our 4 1/2 week old chick with her hatchin' mama.
The other hens have been kind of mean to the Bantam Oprington that hatched her since I've re-introduced mom and baby to the flock.
The Delaware that's sharing peas with her is the flock leader. Seems like a good sign that main bird is letting her eat instead of chasing her off.

Just as I was getting back to the thread...
We were finishing my DH’s birthday dinner on Monday when my DD at IU called. She has a chronic illness (CEBV), and was very sick. Her landlord just recently agreed to address the house’s humidity problems after mold began growing throughout. After testing, the mold remediators were coming on Tuesday, so DD and her roommates were relocating to a hotel. So on Monday night, I drove up to help DD for two days, and then headed to Indy for a re-do of my voice (spasmodic dysphonia) treatment since my recent treatment failed. I’m only mentioning all of this to illustrate why I’ve been MIA on the thread that past couple of months. If it’s not one thing, it’s another! However, things could always be worse—much worse.

While in Indy, I stopped at Agrarian (I refer to it as “The Fancy Chicken Store” to my DH. lol) They’re finally moving to their new location this weekend. I bought some wheat because my chickens LOVE wheat for treats. They don’t care for rye, oats, or barley. I came SO close to buying a couple of Silkie chicks!! They often have chicks from Meyer’s to tempt people like me. But I restrained myself because if I’m going to get any new chicks, they will be from our trusty thread members!

Here are my two English Orps: Adeline (Jubilee) and Eliza (Blue Splash).

My DS took this photo below while "mom/rooster figure" I was away this week...At night they normally perch, but when I'm not home the pecking order leads to the docile orps being knocked off the perch. Although she's my largest chicken, Eliza is hiding her head in fear under Adeline. My compact sized EE is the bully. They're just like kids who have a babysitter. If I am home, they all sit in their places nicely!

M2H, I just wanted to comment on Eliza. She makes me want to drive right down there and bury my face in her feathers! :love She sounds like such a sweetie. Reminds me so much of my beloved Frou-Frou. Give her lots of hugs for me!

very nice pic's. So glad to see you posting again. Hope things get better for you, I know what ya mean by if it not one thing it's another.

Awhile back My Aunt was thought to have cancer, all the test came back neg, So now she is back to living life again.

But now my mother had to go in for a biopsy on a spot on her head today, so now we wait again!! Just praying she will be as lucky as my Aunt.

On a better note, got to meet @daskhan today, and they got to meet Waddles. They told us Waddles was famous, he must have heard them say that and it went to his head cause he was demanding More treats than normal tonight at feed time. So next time... whisper ... lol
I was really hoping you would have taken Mr. Crows allot, But oh well he will go to the Auction Saturday if no one comes for him tomorrow. Someone was supposed to come get them all yesterday, but they never showed, after I watched for them all day. RUDE!!!
I decided to keep the little Black Tailed White Japanese, he is such a sweet heart, so far and Lacy really likes him. They hung out together all day today.

My poppy but Silkie chick, the one I had to bring in cause she just wasn't thriving out with her mother and was always pasty butted. She still isnt growing, the last chick that hatched 5 or 6 days late, she is now bigger then this chick. She was crying at the top of her lungs just a few minutes ago so I went to check on her, she ran for my hand jumped in and started I guess you would call it singing, kind of like a well I dont know how to put it but she was happy... I think she misses her mom. She is snuggled up tight between my chest and my arrn singing with her eyes closed. I think she was cold. now my hand is falling asleep, but she is so happy I don't want to move her,
love.gif

I keep the chick room 70 deg. Sh is old enough she shouldn't need more than that, but I guess she does. guess I'm gonna have to bring in a heat lamp, man I thought I was done with that.

Sleepy baby

Maybe I'm just worrying over nothing, but this added to the fact she is not growing.. And I still am fighting pasty butt with her. Just makes me think something is really wrong. I have her on those baby Vitamins always have to look at the bottle to spell it, and well my hand is kinda busy right now, I'm typing 1 handed too... aint I good... lol
