Can anyone direct me to farm land for sale around Steuben County? What are the chicken laws? I have roosters, lots of them. Studying to become a vet, need to stay close to Michigan State University, but I like the Hamilton area there. Michigan is flat, ugly, Indiana, hilly, pretty, vineyards, lakes, wow! I just need to stay around I69 and within 2 hours of MSU. TYIA for any help on where to look. ~JPB

That page says that if you click on "Ordinances" (on the left column), you can download or view a pdf of their ordinances. It might be faster if you just go "Contact Us" to ask them about chicken laws— sometimes ordinances are a nightmare to read!
And thank you for the condolences about my Silkie's death. She was my first loss from a predator. And I feel very sad.

I missed a page, so I want to tell @jchny2000 that I was sorry to read about your Mom's health.

You have done so much for her and your Dad. I hope you're hanging in there and not taking too much on yourself.
Btw, your DH sure has a knack for being resourceful! Those telephone poles are a great find.
I also missed @flyladyrocks 's post about her neighbor's harassment. What a stressful situation! Is it just one woman who lives there? Are city officials tired of her constant complaining since you said she's been harassing you for years and it has intensified this past year? Many times people like that have some type of mental disorder that makes them obsess about an issue or feel scared, paranoid, or whatever, and they repeatedly call city officials. I've met you before at Chickenfest II, and you're someone who immediately projects a good image. I'd think that you as a conscientious citizen would contrast with someone who chronically incriminates a neighbor. So you're already ahead of the game, but you need allies. What do other neighbors think? Can you make an appointment with a city official to calmly discuss the situation? If the neighbor is harassing you, can you talk to the police? I know you had computer failure and hopefully that's resolved. Emails are a great way to communicate because you have documentation of conversations. Use your phone's recorder to record conversations and use video, too. It's sad that you have to spend time and energy because one person decides to cause problems.

Hopefully, you can find help from sane people who can guide you through the system. Keep us posted.

Got a question????? for anyone??? Where in the world do you get chicken diapers??? I see people talking about using them and I am going to need some this year for my special needs Silkie She cant step up into a house so she cant stay outside in the cold. And I cant figure out a way that she can live in the house and still get the exercise she needs without turning my house into 1 big chicken poddy. I'm too busy to follow her around picking up her poo.

Ol'girl has stopped laying again, and that's fine at 5 years old if all she wants to give me is 1 egg a week then so be it. All the other EE's are laying even the pullets, guess they are no longer pullets, huh. So my basket is pretty again... lol

Got everyone heat in their houses that will need it this year like the Silkies and the chicks and the Bantam's, made sure all the drafts I could find are sealed, and with so many new houses this year I found a few. Still working on snow free zones for a few of them, know how to do it just ran out of material to do it and have to wait till next week to get anymore. So I'm at a stand still, I hate that.

It's been a bit since I was on last I don't think I'll have time to catch up for awhile. Been working a lot and trying to work on a new coop and fencing. Last time I was on lost half my flock. Was paid for loss. So going to wait to next year and can be more selective but here's a few pics of new coop.

Not sure if there is a store but there's a swap thread that features them a lot if it's not up you could message the particapents and ask to buy them
Try "the new what you got swap" just search through the thread yourll find some I believe they are cloth and washable though

I'm new to the Danville, Indiana area. We gave our chickens to our friends before we left Kentucky. Now that we have settled in, I NEED to purchase new babies. Any poultry sales places close by?

Welcome to the Indiana Thread! Many of us on this thread have found that we like purchasing chicks from our members. There are always potential problems with poultry, but more so when buying them from strangers or even a store. What chicken breeds are you looking for? Chickens for pets/eggs or chickens for healthful eating? I know we have some members from Hendricks County. Been working on making our setup a little more user friendly, partially because winter is on the way, but mostly because after the new year is my travel season for work. Trade shows have me gone quite a bit, which means daily duties fall to my ever loving wife. That said, I want things to be as turnkey as possible because it's bad enough I'm not there to shovel the walk...

Our first coop is small, only setup for 3 or 4 birds, and currently holds two, but the way it was constructed, it made it easier to put in three nesting boxes. There really isn't room for a feeder/waterer in the coop, but that's why genius struck. I built a gravity bunk feeder into one of the existing nesting boxes, which should keep the feed clean and accessible without my loving and supporting wife having to clean out feeders in the aftermath of a blizzard. Currently waiting on some cup waterers to experiment with turning an old ice cream tub into a waterer that will fit in the second wasted nesting box...

But I don't think my wife fully appreciates my genius...

I just discovered that one of my lav orp pullets has a cracked beak. Otherwise, she looks OK.

I'm trying to debate if I should try to clip the beak, superglue, or just leave it alone.

I offered a bite of bread which she ate. Do I need to separate her for feeding?

My Nina had a similar problem she ate seperate from the others for about two months she had a hard adjustment period she would get bullied when trying to eat with the others I left it be and it eventually grew back and the part that was cracked fell off afterwords she's fine now she's actually went through a period she thought she was top dog
